Gpnterojd (132), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada Sep 24, 2007 Updated: Nov 19, 2007 Looks splendid. A nice tan head rests atop a deep clear amber. Effervescence looks great. Aroma is bready, caramel, and walnuts. The flavour contains subtly roasted malt, caramel, vanilla, and some hops. Lots of chocolate. A little alcohol present. Good lacing. Dry finish. Side note: Good value. A flavourful, interesting beer for $36 a case, making it cheaper than a lot of the club soda lagers available around here.
Beershine (1440), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Oct 2, 2008 Bottle @ Rhino. Deep, dark, almost opaque amber brown. Inky aroma. Low carbonation. Metallic and mild. LadySusan (374), Ste-Therese, Quebec, Canada Aug 27, 2008 On tap at Pub Italia in Ottawa. The color is a dark brown very little head. THe aroma and taste is of malt . Also in the taste is a swwet taste of caramel. The finish is bitter but not to much. puzzl (1817), New York, New York, USA Aug 26, 2008 Bottle from secret santa. Some peanut brittle in the aroma with light caramel. Taste is awfully thin and doesn’t have too much flavor -- maybe a touch of anise and some nuts -- but otherwise is a very easy drinker. Nothing too exciting here, though I wouldn’t mind throwing a few of these back. WeeHeavySD (1841), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Aug 18, 2008 12oz bonus via Puzzl. Pours dark brown with a 1 finger tan head. Nose is sweet and nutty. Taste is sweet with some nice chewy malts, basically a brown ale, with a bit of oomph. Barnabus (28), Niagara, Ontario, Canada Jul 4, 2008 Bottle from the Brewery. Chestnut brown with fizzy light brown head. Aroma is of malt, caramel and strong coffee with a very similar taste. Palate is fizzy and light to medium. It has a short, slightly bitter finish and, while enjoyable, is overall nothing too special.
