french tickler (464), Aylmer, Quebec, Canada Apr 12, 2008 Clear golden poor with a thin off-white head. Aromas of caramel malts, toffee, mixed nuts and pepper. Peppery spicyness, good bitterness an impressive body for a 4.5% brew. Flavors are of caramel, toffee and pepper. Nothing WOW... but very drinkable.
Barnabus (28), Niagara, Ontario, Canada Jun 20, 2008 Bottle – 341 mL. Pours a sparkling golden orange with a large frothy, light brown head. The aroma has light malt with honey and fresh herbs (which is more appetizing than it sounds). Light to medium body with a smooth feel. Lightly sweet taste with an average length, slightly bitter and acidic finish. Dry and fresh and much better than the sum of it’s parts. hip_hop (81), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 15, 2008 Not bad... a favoured pale ale from Ontario. Pours golden with a medium sized head. Tastes hoppy, but I’ve turned my back on this brew since discovering how neighbours to the south hop their beers. Not much aroma, but a good session beer given it’s chilled well. matt7215 (515), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada May 16, 2008 341 ml bottle from a taste of ontario pack from the LCBO. pours light brown. darker then most pale ales. aromas are vauge and offer only sweet malt. no hops in this brew. flavours are decent mostly malts and a touch to sweet but not offensive. light bodied, a bit thin and watery and forgetable. nothing to seek out here. Blasphemies (45), Ontario, Canada May 12, 2008 draught - I’ve had the bottle, I believe it is a bit better than what I have tasted on draught. Couldn’t really detect an aroma, but at least nothing unpleasant. Colour was a dark brown/copper. A caramel watery slightly skunky taste to me, small amount of hops. I think the keg at the pub might have been off. Still enjoyable to drink, and I know the bottle is a bit better. cyrenaica (265), Milton, Ontario, Canada May 6, 2008 341 ml bottle
4.5% ABV
I tried this beer on April 30, 2008 after purchasing an assorted 6 pack of Ontario Craft Brews from one of my local LCBO outlets. The poured a beautiful translucent rusty red colour with a thin white rocky head. The aroma is some roasted malt, with a hoppy background. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, with ample carbonation. The flavour is malty with just a little hops. I was expecting a more hoppish flavour profile.
