COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottled, Pasteurised.
This dark golden coloured ale hugs the palate with great intensity. Its malty aroma is complemented by the gentle nose of Banana. Its flavour unfolds with a sensual sparkle and a smart crispness, which balances its aroma perfectly. Tropically fruity; its ripe banana flavour, emphasised by a hint of bitterness, comes from the addition of real fair trade bananas and finishes with an emphatic, steely dryness.

Amber and clear. Strong banana aroma with light spice. Watery body, with banana and mild spice, and maybe a touch of malt.

500ml bottle. pours dark golden amber with a frothy off-white head that dissipates quite quickly into a small rim with minimal lacing. Aroma reminds me of a pumpkin-ale using similar spices. aroma is banana, malt, caramel, minor cloves hops and cinnamon. flavour is initially sweet and quickly turns quite dry and spicy, almost astringent. medium body oily texture with soft carbonation. Exceeded expectations.

11.2 oz. bottle from a mug. Pours a light caramel brown color with a small white head. Aroma is intense true banana. Has the aroma of a warm banana pudding. Really original concept. Taste is much less interesting up front, leading in with a very watery begining. Transitions into a mild banana taste with a bit of spice in the finish. This one is much better in the nose than it is on the tongue...which was really disappointing.

Aroma and taste of banana and candy ..... I really do not understand why people do this kind of beer ... banana flavor perhaps might work in a Belgian wheat beer, but it’s really not working in this ale.

Bright amber color with slightly off white foam head leaving foam on glass. Smells like banana (who would have thought), funny combination of bitter with banana aftertaste. (Galveston 201205)

Originally reviewed: 8/17/10. Finally finding the chance to give this one a try. I was curious to try it every time I spotted in on the shelf at my local grocery. Sounds interesting. Best by date: 2/24/11 printed on the side. 16.9oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a crystal clear dark orange with plenty of visible bubbles popping skyward. A small white head caps this off. Leaves some light lace. Faint scents of banana candy, minerals, and marshmallows. The mouth on this is crisp. Carbonation level is moderately high. Decent body. The banana isn’t as forefront as I’d have thought, or really wanted. Faintly present in the aftertaste. Fresh breads take its place. A slight mineral twang on the back end as well. Faint English hop bite. All-in-all, this wasn’t too bad. Not all that I expected, but still decent. I even finished off the last half of the bottle paired with some actual banana bread. Why not? I like the pairing. I could see this becoming a decent dessert beer, maybe with some pie.

Smells like banana bread. Tastes pretty decent, too. Not very carbonated though. Still, generally a solid beer.

Poured from bottle, pours a clear dark amber/copper with a thick head, the Aroma is banana all the way but on the artificial candy side. Taste is same with some malt and caramel. As fake candy tasting as it is, I kind of liked it.

Poured from a 22-oz. bomber (I think) into a pint glass. About a finger of head. Color was honey caramel. Really liked the color. Light bubbly lacing that dissipated very quickly. No film on the sides. Huge banana malts on the initial smell. Reminded me a lot of Circus Peanuts. A bit bready on the nose, too. That was pretty much it, but definitely seemed to be a reproduced smell. Taste was better and more complex than the smell. Still got the banana malts and Circus Peanuts up front, but then came a more dry, bready, wheat flavor. Ended with a surprisingly bitter finish, albeit light. Medium body. Creamy texture. Above average carbonation. Long, smooth watery finish. Not a bad beer overall, but I’d say a bit disappointing. Would be a fantastic beer for Thanksgiving and not so much for now (April 27).
