This dark golden coloured ale hugs the palate with great intensity. Its malty aroma is complemented by the gentle nose of Banana. Its flavour unfolds with a sensual sparkle and a smart crispness, which balances its aroma perfectly. Tropically fruity; its ripe banana flavour, emphasised by a hint of bitterness, comes from the addition of real fair trade bananas and finishes with an emphatic, steely dryness.

Bottle. Pours a dark amber with a just a few bubbles floating around the surface that quickly disappear. Aromas are impressively full of bananas (can smell from a distance.) A closer examination reveals some bananas and malt with a little bit of alcohol or something slightly chemical. Flavor is just what you might predict from the nose... banans and malt with some chemical like alcohol. Iíd guess life would be complete without every trying this, but hey... might as well be adventurous.

UPDATED: FEB 12, 2009 Iíve wanted to try this for a while, but then again, I can be a glutton for punishment. Smells OK, but the banana flavor seems overowering and even a bit artificial. Not as sweet as I had feared, but not very good, either.

My wife bought this for me LOL Bottle poured into a Sam Adams glass produced a finger worth of white head that turned into a thin lace on top of an amber brown body. The aromas of banana and, bread wow what a concept. It did smell good I will give it that. It tastes like banana too, so if you like that you will enjoy it. The mouthfeel is light and crisp. The beer is very unique, I will say that much. It was worth trying but I donít think I could drink more than one at a sitting.

Sample from January 24, 2009 Beer Club meeting. Yellow color with orange hues. Slow carbonation. Smells JUST LIKE banana bread! Flavor is the same, but very spiced.. so much so that it seems too complex for my tongue. I think itís one of those things thatís better smelled than tasted. Like... some perfumes smell nice, but you definitely donít want to drink them.

Bottled. Poured clear lighter orange with a well-retained cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up banana-flavored Runts with a little clove and nutmeg you may find in banana bread.. very sweet and perhaps I shouldnít have liked it, but it was intriguing. The flavor was sweet as well with toasty, sticky banana at the core.. light sourness and herbal accents at the edges, picking up steam as it warmed.. the finish was a bit astringent with more of the Runts. Medium-bodied and kinda sharp on the palate.. OK overall.

Not acceptable. Tried to pair this with fresh baked banana bread and it was awful. Pours and tastes like a skunky pilsner with the aroma and cloying flavor of underripe bananas. Seemingly void of malt and a source of sweetness.

Being a huge banana fan I was definitely excited to try this beer. It was very, very disappointing. The aroma is definitely heavy banana with some spice undertones. Body is extremely thin and carbonated to the point of negatively affecting the taste. If this beer was a well made stout, porter or even a brown ale with a fuller body it would probably be delicious. Instead it tastes like a Bud with a banana jammed into the top of the bottle.

Pours a clear dark golden color with almost no head. Literally smells like liquid banana bread. Nice malty flavor with the banana flavor much more subtle than the smell would suggest. Moderately high carbonation with a dry finish.

Pours a transparent golden orange with a small white head. Aroma of banana much like banana runts...malt and spices. Flavor is banana, sweet malts, bread and spices. No false advertising here, this is a interesting brew......glad to have tried it but I wouldnt seek it out on a regular basis.
