Banana evident in flavour and aroma, in a more substantial way than in a hefe. Spicy hops and a malty base complement it nicely. Smooth palate, satisfying. Unusual but very drinkable - I’d passed it over previously and dismissed it as a gimmick but actually rather liked it.

(bottle) First banana beer I’ve had. A thin, light brown head and copper body. The ripe banana aroma hits me as soon as its poured. The flavor is banana with some sweetness, but it dries out a little on the way back. Banana and spice lingers long in the aftertaste.

500mL bottle purchased for $5 from Bauer Wines in Boston. Pours a clear medium gold, with lots of bubbles but little head. I just finished off the rest of my toddler’s banana after putting him to bed. Will that make this judgment better or worse? It’s a decent malt aroma, but sadly I’m not getting any banana. And this IS a banana beer, after all. After the first sip, I’m having trouble figuring out what banana tastes I have are coming from the beer vs the banana I just ate. Pretty sure that little burp right that was from the real banana. I suppose this means that I can make any beer a banana beer by eating a banana before it, and I won’t have to pay $5 for the privilege! Subsequent tastes are getting better as the flavours become more distinguishable. Banana flavours - more direct and less subtle than a hefeweizen. I gave my wife a blind tasting, and she noted heavy banana flavours - perhaps because she doesn’t much care for the fruit. A fun beer.

Smells exactly like banana nut bread. Fairly bitter and there’s way too much alcohol on the finish.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a big fizzy white head, clear golden copper color. Strong banana aroma, reminds me of banana bread. The initial flavor is flat, a little bitter then a little banana taste. Pretty non-deScript probably was better back in November 2007.

Bottle. Medium sized off-white head that mostly expired, very little lacing, visible carbonation, transparent, and a gold hue. The aroma was very much bananas and some spicyness. Ditto for the flavor. Mildly tingly mouthfeel and light-medium in body. Over-the-top banana flavor IMO and a little went a long way for me. Just too much banana flavor! Definitely not a beer I want to have again. Next!

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled. Pours cloudy yellow with a white head. Aroma is sweet ripe bananas and wheat. The initial flavor has a hint of banana but you really get the full flavor as it fades away. Some floral hops with a bit of dryness in the finish. The banana isn’t over powering, but gets more noticable towards the finish.

dark gold pour with an enticing aroma of banana and spices like a german hefe, but taste isn’t as consistent.
