COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottled, Pasteurised.
This dark golden coloured ale hugs the palate with great intensity. Its malty aroma is complemented by the gentle nose of Banana. Its flavour unfolds with a sensual sparkle and a smart crispness, which balances its aroma perfectly. Tropically fruity; its ripe banana flavour, emphasised by a hint of bitterness, comes from the addition of real fair trade bananas and finishes with an emphatic, steely dryness.

The aroma of banana is wonderfully strong, pours a clean dark golden colour. Surprisingy the taste of banana is actually very subtle, the beer is not particularly sweet and has a great bitter hoppy/malty balance. Excellant fresh crisp ale for a warm summer evening !

A nice orange brown with a creamy white head. Nose is full of banana. Smells just like the banana flavored Laffy Taffy. Flavor is malt with a banana undertone. Aftertaste is kind of astringent and the beer as a whole could use a little more sweetness. Very interesting. I wish more brewers would experiment with different flavors like this.

Pours a rich dark golden color with a lasting beige head. Smell is definitely like banana bread with a sweet banana gooeyness and light nuttiness. Taste is much the same with actually a fair amount of hop balance and bitterness, and it doesn’t come off like a sweet fruit beer by any means. Medium body and carbonation. Really not that bad, and I may have to grab one of these every blue moon.

Bottle. First banana beer I’ve had. A thin, light brown head and copper body. The ripe banana aroma hits me as soon as its poured. The flavor is banana with some sweetness. Good and malty. Banana and spice lingers long in the aftertaste. Enjoyable

Golden copper pour into thick, foamy, off-white head that dissipates quickly into heavy ring of lacing around the glass. Carbonated bubbles rise from the bottom of the glass into a lingering pool in the center. Aroma of bananna, malty bread and sticky sweet (candied?) citrus. Initial flavor of bananna (bananna taffy???), vanilla, and spice (allspice or nutmeg?) that lingers to malty, slightlywatery mouthfeel and a dry balanced finish.

Surprisingly the aroma is that of really good banana bread... Smells quite good... pours a mostly clear brown/amber with a tiny head.... Aroma is of banana, nuts... Taste of banana up front, but followed by a somewhat medicinal unappealing finish with some notes of metallicness... Incredible potential, though it ends up a bit gimmicky...

Sampled at Forest City in CT. Appears dark gold with a clear body and large head. Aroma of banana cream pie and fine sugar. This beer starts with sweet malt and ripe banana but comes unraveled by the mid-palate, which is a watery, minerally, and semi-bitter mess. Finishes with slight bitterness and hardly any lasting impression.

Bottle. Pours a dark amber with a just a few bubbles floating around the surface that quickly disappear. Aromas are impressively full of bananas (can smell from a distance.) A closer examination reveals some bananas and malt with a little bit of alcohol or something slightly chemical. Flavor is just what you might predict from the nose... banans and malt with some chemical like alcohol. I’d guess life would be complete without every trying this, but hey... might as well be adventurous.

UPDATED: FEB 12, 2009 I’ve wanted to try this for a while, but then again, I can be a glutton for punishment. Smells OK, but the banana flavor seems overowering and even a bit artificial. Not as sweet as I had feared, but not very good, either.
