3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Quite honestly and as the name implies, this both smells and tastes like banana bread. The main differences between the two are that this ale is alot runnier, is carbonated, and has a bright copper body with an off-white head. Thereís also a touch of toffee sweetness to it. While itís not all that bad, I just canít see bellying up to the bar for this one.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Well, itís about time. I mean, beers that taste like beer are all very well but what about those of us who want beers that taste like baked goods? Itís been a long wait. Was it worth it? Well I wonít be cancelling the daily delivery from Krispy Kreme. But yeah, this is alright if youíre the sort of person who ever sipped an English bitter and thought, "Hey! This could use a little banana milk shake syrup". There are a couple of obvious benefits: you canít tell if the stupid clear bottle has caused the beer to be light-struck; and you can hardly taste the tell-tale íburnt sugarí effect of pasteurisation. Hell, the brewer coulda taken a piss in this and you wouldnít pick it over the bananas. In the glass, Wells Banana Bread was a mealy tun colour with a hint of jaundice. The short head collapsed like a burst souffle. It exuded rich fumes of banana milk shake syrup - very sweet and sticky. Could be the yeast strain , I suppose, but I doubt that aroma is all due to natural ingredients. Bit of artificial help there, fellas? Certainly doesnít have the natural smell of a good hefe. Besides bananas, there are hints of roses, husky grains and perhaps some butterscotch diacetyl. Itís sweet and slick over the tongue, and softly carbonated in the English style. Strong banana notes compete for attention with Goldings and spicy Challenger hops. The finish is dry and salty, with a mild bitterness. I quite like this, but then I kinda like those PickíníMix banana-shaped candies. Itís a beer for people who donít much like how beers taste and would rather drink something else. Now whoís gonna make me an apple pie íní cream ale? Chocolate chip muffin porter? (Pint bottle from Camperdown Cellars. Best before 8/02/07)

2.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Ooh, I loves bananas. Pours an amber color with a small head. Aroma is startlingly banana, almost artificially so. Slight cheap malt aroma undercuts the fruit. Flavor is bananas, cloying sweetness, cheap malts end in a BMC-like grainy finish. At least it smells like banana Runts.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Pours a clear copper color with huge banana aroma. I gotta tell ya, if you like banana pudding, you will like this beer. Banana flavor is not over whelming, but it is apparent. I must admit that I expected this to be bad beer, but I did enjoy it. However, I do not think I could drink two in a row, it was a bit too sweet. It is still missing something, but not a bad beer. I would like to compare to the cask conditioned.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
500 ml bottle from the Woodmans on Gammon Road, Madison WI (purchased December 2006, BBD uh...unreadable) consumed at cellar temperature from an Allagash glass. A frothy white lasting head tops the clear light maple body, lacing just a bit....yep, thereís bananas in there all right, sugared/honeyed bananas, a bit of vanilla, light spicing, itís all very sweet and milkshake-like, but Iím not smelling a lot of malt and certainly nothing like hops.....not surprisingly, much drier and duller in the body, that banana character just isnít going to carry through to the end (and would it really be that much better if it did?); lightly fruity, thin and sweet, but growing dry and metallic/harsh as it sits on the tongue, with hard and artificial carbonation and very much a 7UP or fruity soda-like finish. The mouthfeel is in many ways the worst problem with this beer; I actually think I might like the cask version quite a bit, if it were fuller and more natural, less rusty and hard at the finish. But, thatís not what Iím drinking, and what Iím drinking is something Iíd rather not be.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Poured copper color with an average fizzy off-white head that diminished slowly with fair lacing. Good banana and butterscotch aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture. Medium balanced fruit flavor with medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. This beer did meet my expectations.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Clear brown pour almost no head. Aroma of slight banana but not a lot. Flavor is the same diminished banana flavor mixed with some crystal malts, very thin plain and boring.
