This dark golden coloured ale hugs the palate with great intensity. Its malty aroma is complemented by the gentle nose of Banana. Its flavour unfolds with a sensual sparkle and a smart crispness, which balances its aroma perfectly. Tropically fruity; its ripe banana flavour, emphasised by a hint of bitterness, comes from the addition of real fair trade bananas and finishes with an emphatic, steely dryness.

Zurich, 07. This one really does smell and taste like banana bread! It pours a nice auburn colour, with light head. The smell has upfront banana and cloves, and the taste has much more banana and toffee. Thankfully not too sweet, but definitely not a beer to drink often.

Bottle. High creamy white and long lasting head. Clear and beautiful cobber body. As indicated by the name of the beer the aroma is banana, sweet and good. Flavor is of course also banana with just a touch of bitterness in the finish. Low carbonation and long sweet aftertaste. Generally it is, however, a bit watery and feels somewhat artificial tasting.

19.25oz bottle, dated 31/05/07, hopefully the born on date. Clear dirty orange with a one finger yellowish light beige head. Aroma has both ripe bananas and banana Runts candy, the Runts being dominant. There are also some toasty malts and a hint of white pepper. Flavor adds a bit of woody hops and more bitterness that I would’ve thought from the aroma. I just saw that this is a Strong Ale so I suppose that makes sense. The toasty malts and banana Runts are dominant in the flavor. There is also some light wet paper. Semi dry finish. Light carbonation with a medium body. Seeing the bottle I wanted to like this, but couldn’t get into it as much as some people have.

Tasted 2007-04-12. Fresh bottle, 56,8cl. Clear toffee/orange colour. White head. Nice, but looks a bit too clean to get top grade. Aroma: ripe banana. It’s almost possible to sense that this is a beer and not a pile of bananas. Funny! Taste is very malty. Bananas dominate the taste but not as much as in the aroma. There’s little to no bitterness at the end. Not a big taste, but yet a good taste!

500ml bottle; Pours a nice light amber, almost with an orange hue, lightly active with a thin but rocky head. The aroma belongs on a hefeweizen, not an English Strong Ale, yeasty and banana-laced. But once I start to consume it, the name of the beer becomes most logical. This really does taste just like the homemade banana bread I just had in the house this week ... well, it’s bready and banana-y ... but not in some obtuse way. This is actually quite drinkable. And different. Well done. (#3046, 8/1/2007)

If you like banana bread, you’ll like this beer - unless you prefer banana bread on a plate as opposed to in a glass. Smells like banana bread and tastes like banana bread. Nothing subtle or complex,

Decent sized frothy white head of fine bubbles. Distinct banana aroma along with a bit of dry grass, some nutmeg and some bready malts. Color is a medium golden orange. Sweet and crisp flavor with more bananas. Actually, it tastes very much like banana bread. Light spicyness and dryness. Crisp finish with some lingering bready malts and spices. Interestng but I really don’t think that this is an English Strong though.
