COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottled, Pasteurised.
This dark golden coloured ale hugs the palate with great intensity. Its malty aroma is complemented by the gentle nose of Banana. Its flavour unfolds with a sensual sparkle and a smart crispness, which balances its aroma perfectly. Tropically fruity; its ripe banana flavour, emphasised by a hint of bitterness, comes from the addition of real fair trade bananas and finishes with an emphatic, steely dryness.

I’m fond of bananas, but bananas in beer? I’ve already had a polish one which was terrible! This one however is much better. Aromas of banana, some malt and some light hoppiness. First taste is sweet with lots of banana and bubblegum, later on it gets better, more caramel, some licorice(?) and some malt, some light bitterness. Finishes long, fruity and a little bitter. Wouldn’t buy it again though...strange!

Interesting atleast. Body is brown with a light cream color head. Aroma is banana bread, light caramel. Taste is is like a brown ale with banana bread in my opinion. It was interesting, but not very good.

(Bottle) Pours a clear amber body with a small creamy head. Aroma of "surprise" banana bread. Flavor of banana, mild hops, and nuts with citrus-peel bitterness in the finish. Bit thin, would have liked more malt body.

Bottle. Amber colour with a fizzy off-white head. Aroma is mostly ripe bananas. Flavour of hops and bananas which doesn’t mix very good. Medium bitterness.

Bottle. Clear and super carbonated, gold with a huge head. CO2, light crystal malt and banana aroma. Clean banana flavor, mildly spicy, a little oxidized. Beter than expected. Well balanced and restrained.

Grovlam (4157) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - MAR 31, 2007
Bottle. Small white fizzy head. Spar lacing. Body was clear and very sparkling with a brown colour. Aroma was heavy overripe banana, with hints sweet malt and some bitterness, maybe from the banana? Light to medium bodied with an average carbonation. Flavour was moderated sweet with notes of bitterness. Slightly bitter finish. I thought the banana aroma became a bit too much after a pint of this.

Bottle from Sainsbury’s, amber in colour, definite bananaey (if there is such a word) aroma. Quite a decent taste, yes it’s all about the banana’s but to be fair it’s not trying to be anything different. There is some bitterness lurking there and it wasn’t as sweet as I expected, even allowing for the banana oveload it still has that unmistakeably Charles Wells feel about it. Not bad at all.

does indeed smell like bananas but doesn’t taste like it. It immediately tastes like a shitty pale lager and a look at the bottle confirms its lager status. Pure crap. Also has no color. i don’t know why it says ale on this website.

Ruby in colour, sweet banana, overpowering banana flavour with sweet malt, but it grown on you.

(bottle - 500 ml) Light grapefruit colored pour with a fizzy white head. Aroma smells like a banana popsicle. Not much else in it. Flavor is very light with a touch of banana popsicle and some bread but not much in the malt department. Sweet and smooth. Very interesting.
