COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottled, Pasteurised.
This dark golden coloured ale hugs the palate with great intensity. Its malty aroma is complemented by the gentle nose of Banana. Its flavour unfolds with a sensual sparkle and a smart crispness, which balances its aroma perfectly. Tropically fruity; its ripe banana flavour, emphasised by a hint of bitterness, comes from the addition of real fair trade bananas and finishes with an emphatic, steely dryness.

Bottle. Pours a clear copper color with huge banana aroma. I gotta tell ya, if you like banana pudding, you will like this beer. Banana flavor is not over whelming, but it is apparent. I must admit that I expected this to be bad beer, but I did enjoy it. However, I do not think I could drink two in a row, it was a bit too sweet. It is still missing something, but not a bad beer. I would like to compare to the cask conditioned.

Bottle: Clear copper color with a light tan head. Aroma of banana runts, and some sweet malts. Flavor, banana, yeasty, overly carbonated, and a little grassy. Eww, never again.

500 ml bottle from the Woodmans on Gammon Road, Madison WI (purchased December 2006, BBD uh...unreadable) consumed at cellar temperature from an Allagash glass. A frothy white lasting head tops the clear light maple body, lacing just a bit....yep, thereís bananas in there all right, sugared/honeyed bananas, a bit of vanilla, light spicing, itís all very sweet and milkshake-like, but Iím not smelling a lot of malt and certainly nothing like hops.....not surprisingly, much drier and duller in the body, that banana character just isnít going to carry through to the end (and would it really be that much better if it did?); lightly fruity, thin and sweet, but growing dry and metallic/harsh as it sits on the tongue, with hard and artificial carbonation and very much a 7UP or fruity soda-like finish. The mouthfeel is in many ways the worst problem with this beer; I actually think I might like the cask version quite a bit, if it were fuller and more natural, less rusty and hard at the finish. But, thatís not what Iím drinking, and what Iím drinking is something Iíd rather not be.

Bottle. Poured copper color with an average fizzy off-white head that diminished slowly with fair lacing. Good banana and butterscotch aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture. Medium balanced fruit flavor with medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. This beer did meet my expectations.

Clear brown pour almost no head. Aroma of slight banana but not a lot. Flavor is the same diminished banana flavor mixed with some crystal malts, very thin plain and boring.

Caramel color. Smell of bananas, hops, malt, hint of coco, yeast and nuts. Taste of hops, yeast, bananas, malt and copper. A little nut too. Sour bitterness at the end.

Looks, well, as predicted coming from a clear bottle. Clear copper brown with a minimal head that disappeared pretty soon after pouring. Aroma of banana Paddle Pops with a little touch of toffee. Restrained sweetness on tasting, with, as per the description, a hint of bitterness. Fairly thin and missing some body, which really seems to be a result of the pasteurisation - the cask version sounds much more appealing. Thumbs up for the fair trade bananas, but get rid of the clear bottle, the pasteurisation and the filtration and we might have a beer with some guts to back up the aroma!!

I, myself, have an enormous banana, but I donít actually like the taste of bananas. Therefore, this ale is not for me. I suppose it is quite well done, but if you donít like bananas, you aint gonna like this! If you want something more fruity, I would go for one of the Badgerís numbers, such as Golden Glory/Champion; this beer is more for cock suckers!.

Nice banana smell, and a smooth and sweet banana flavour, too. There are some hops in there, but the banana overpowers them totally. Too much - this is a beer you have once, unless youíre looking for a beer to have with banana split or deep fried bananas!
