This dark golden coloured ale hugs the palate with great intensity. Its malty aroma is complemented by the gentle nose of Banana. Its flavour unfolds with a sensual sparkle and a smart crispness, which balances its aroma perfectly. Tropically fruity; its ripe banana flavour, emphasised by a hint of bitterness, comes from the addition of real fair trade bananas and finishes with an emphatic, steely dryness.

I like this one. Strong banana smell as soon as the bottle is opened. Amber beer with not much head. Fairly carbonated. Banana taste disappears quickly on drinking and palate is a little thin. I think the bananas would work better with a more full bodied beer. Btw I don’t reckon the banana flavour is artificial - ripe bananas have a definite "chemical" smell to them.

Wonderful banana smell, reddish colour, bubbly head. No sugar traces, tastes a very good ale with a banana end. Very good, an example of how to brew a fruit beer.

500 ml bottle. Copper coloured beer. Smells like sweet baking banana bread, warm clove spice, baked bananas, bready and nutty as well. Noticable spicy hop aroma as well. Flavour is sweet doughy and bready. Banana tastes real, no candyish character. A well-balanced and surprisingly tasty beer. I don’t think I’d want to make a session out of it, but for a change it’s pretty good.

Surprise, surprise, it does actually smell of bananas..well,banana bread actually. Palate is pretty bland, as it warms up there is a strange artificial flavour that isn’t banana...dont like this much..

The artificial banana aroma, exactly like a cheap kids’ sweet, is the worst thing about this. Why can’t flavour scientists produce something more convincing? The taste, in which the banana isn’t so overpowering, is quite pleasant and malty, though it could be a bit more bitter.

UPDATED: FEB 28, 2006 Bottle: Translucent burnt orange, very coppery, large white frothy head, spotty lacing, a few streams of carbonation.   Artificial peanut aroma, much like those orange circus peanuts.   Also has a Banana Popsicle aroma.   Somewhat more realistic banana flavor emerges on the tongue, albeit still remains like a popsicle.   Malty, semi-sweet, finishing like the aroma, orange circus peanuts with only a dash of banana.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Meh... not terribley interesting, but not bad either.   Thanks mattbob for sharing!

Bottle (09/07/05). Initial banana aroma with spicy yeast aromas and a general malty fruitiness. The palate becomes a bit thin a more rounded full body would complement the sweetish flavours better.

Amber with a small white head. Banana cake aroma. Sweet malts and banana, with a slightly bitter finish. This one really suprised me, a little one dimensional but perfectly enjoyable ale.

Light amber, not much head. Sweet aroma from artificial banana. Artificial flavor as well, strange and not very pleasant at all.

Different. Definitely has a banana bread aroma and flavor. If you like banana bread as I do, it’s not a bad brew.
