This dark golden coloured ale hugs the palate with great intensity. Its malty aroma is complemented by the gentle nose of Banana. Its flavour unfolds with a sensual sparkle and a smart crispness, which balances its aroma perfectly. Tropically fruity; its ripe banana flavour, emphasised by a hint of bitterness, comes from the addition of real fair trade bananas and finishes with an emphatic, steely dryness.

Pours light amber with a shade of brown and a thin white head. Aroma of maple syrup and banana/bread. Taste of syrup and banana. Not really to my taste.

Pours a dark amber with a thin white head. Aroma is ALL sweet, predominantly bananas. The banana aroma is a little too sweet for my tastes, almost like an about to go past ripe banana. The taste is unsurpisingly sweet. There is a little bit of underlying bitterness but the sweetness predominates. Palate is a little bit grainy, with little carbonation. Overall I was disappointed. It’s not a bad beer, it just is a little one dimensional for my tastes.

I am all for beers with unique flavors and like many beers flavored with fruit, herbs and spices, but I draw the line at baked goods. What’s next chocolate chip cookie ale, walnut brownie lager, and cream puff pilsner? This beer does have the distinct flavor of banana bread, I just don’t know why anyone would want their beer to taste like banana bread. I tried this at a beer tasting with my wife and another couple. My friend and I hated it, but guess who thought it was one of the best beers at the tasting? That’s right…the ladies! And why wouldn’t they? They love anything that is sickeningly sweet and gimmicky like chocolate martinis or Taylor Swift. Now if you will excuse me I am going to go put “You Belong to Me” on repeat, paint my toenails and drink a frosty mug of Wells Banana Bread Beer.

UPDATED: JUN 7, 2012 A very different beer but they were going for a banana bread taste and they nailed it. The aroma was bananas, malt, and light bread crust. The appearance was a light brown pour with a small tan head. The taste was good, a mix of banana extract, sweetness, caramel, and a dry finish. A light but oily feel on the palate, a bit thin but nicely carbed and it fits the beer. This would be a pretty good dessert beer, or something to drink occasionally to recharge your taste buds. Well done!

Being a huge banana fan I was definitely excited to try this beer. It was very, very disappointing. The aroma is definitely heavy banana with some spice undertones. Body is extremely thin and carbonated to the point of negatively affecting the taste. If this beer was a well made stout, porter or even a brown ale with a fuller body it would probably be delicious. Instead it tastes like a Bud with a banana jammed into the top of the bottle.

Pours a pale amber. Little to no head. Definite banana and brown sugar. Reminds me of banana bread. Hints of walnuts. Smooth start and the carbonations takes into affect. Tangy after taste with banana residues. Creative style but not my cup of tea.

Poured from a pint bottle into a goblet ...pours a rich amber with a nice head that seems to be gone in seconds ...smell is of baked bread and a lot of banana ...taste is very much the same as the smell... loads of banana and a nice malt back bone and a small touch of hops this beer is a great break away from my go to beers ...all in all pretty damn tasty ....cheers
