This dark golden coloured ale hugs the palate with great intensity. Its malty aroma is complemented by the gentle nose of Banana. Its flavour unfolds with a sensual sparkle and a smart crispness, which balances its aroma perfectly. Tropically fruity; its ripe banana flavour, emphasised by a hint of bitterness, comes from the addition of real fair trade bananas and finishes with an emphatic, steely dryness.

Only tried at the Danish beer festival 2002: The bananas are evident in aroma as well as flavour. The resulting fruitiness was too sweet for me, however. Might work with some desserts.

a mes rate: appearance is dark tan. clearly banana on the nose with a touch of liquorice and caramel. head behaves like a typical english ale and the overall impression is exactly what you would expect from what i have said so far. typical flavourless english ale with a banana hit that makes it quite drinkable but nothing special at all. finsh is all yellow fruit and iron filings...

There is a nice banana aroma with a little bit of caramel malt. The color is a nice dark golden with a huge white head of long lasting duration. The flavor of banana dominates but no other flavors, whether malt or hop, can be detected. The mouthfeel is somewhat weak and watery in texture.

500 ml bottle from the Woodmans on Gammon Road, Madison WI (purchased December 2006, BBD uh...unreadable) consumed at cellar temperature from an Allagash glass. A frothy white lasting head tops the clear light maple body, lacing just a bit....yep, thereís bananas in there all right, sugared/honeyed bananas, a bit of vanilla, light spicing, itís all very sweet and milkshake-like, but Iím not smelling a lot of malt and certainly nothing like hops.....not surprisingly, much drier and duller in the body, that banana character just isnít going to carry through to the end (and would it really be that much better if it did?); lightly fruity, thin and sweet, but growing dry and metallic/harsh as it sits on the tongue, with hard and artificial carbonation and very much a 7UP or fruity soda-like finish. The mouthfeel is in many ways the worst problem with this beer; I actually think I might like the cask version quite a bit, if it were fuller and more natural, less rusty and hard at the finish. But, thatís not what Iím drinking, and what Iím drinking is something Iíd rather not be.

Ooh, I loves bananas. Pours an amber color with a small head. Aroma is startlingly banana, almost artificially so. Slight cheap malt aroma undercuts the fruit. Flavor is bananas, cloying sweetness, cheap malts end in a BMC-like grainy finish. At least it smells like banana Runts.

Bright gold body with a dissipating cottony white head. Aroma and flavor of sweet banana flavoring. As in banana bubble gum, banana taffy, banana ice cream, etc. Some cinnamon hop spice in the background, plus light sweet maple malt. Finishes with some tartness and modest bitterness. Novel, but contrived and fails to redeem itself with any really value as a beer. Maybe Youngís should follow this up with Green Apple Beer, Strawberry Beer, Grape Beer, etc. Maybe not. Incidentally, this is a fruit beer. Duh.
