COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottled, Pasteurised.
This dark golden coloured ale hugs the palate with great intensity. Its malty aroma is complemented by the gentle nose of Banana. Its flavour unfolds with a sensual sparkle and a smart crispness, which balances its aroma perfectly. Tropically fruity; its ripe banana flavour, emphasised by a hint of bitterness, comes from the addition of real fair trade bananas and finishes with an emphatic, steely dryness.

Immense banana aroma with doughy undertones. Immaculately clear dark golden, thin white head, some lacing. Tastes just like banana bread even down to the walnut finish. Iím not sure Iíve ever had a beer as well conceived. I absolutely must try the cask version. Good balance and well crafted. Were the banana esters a function of hefe yeast instead of additives, I would absolutely give this a 5.0. Since it wasnít, I still gladly offer my 4.4 to improve its standing.

5.2% amber with a thin head, very distinctive banana aroma and fruity taste with just a hint of banana, I personally love it.

500ml Bottle. The thing about this beer, before I start to review it properly, is that it does what it says on the label - it is banana bread (no not bananas but BANANA BREAD) in liquid and alcohollic form - it is bloody lovely!!! That said.... Aroma is banana, cloves, cinnemon, brown sugar, malt, and yeast. Appearance wise it looks like a standard brown ale and it pours fairly weakly. Dont let that put you off because the taste is wonderful and what this beer is all about - pure banana bread, not bananas, not bread but banana bread. Fantastic!!! You wouldnt want to have more than one or two of these as its so rich.

Iím not a huge fan of fruit beers, but this ones a winner. The aroma lets you know what it says on the bottle. Iím wondering if Wells used hops in this one, canít put my finger on any.

What a delight! I passed the pint around the household. They all tried it and they all loved it. What is it precisely? I donít have to say that this little beer is just perfectly crafted, round, sweet, malty and ripe. But it couldnít be just a flavour of fresh bananas, for fresh bananas are not THAT nice. Of course they are free trade, how magnanimously correct of W&Y, but fresh bananas usually donít have that sweet, fruity flavour. This is more like chewing gum. Itís one of those combined fruit-flavours of Juicy Fruit chewing gum, the William Wrigley Company ones. Thatís probably why everyone likes it. It is a firm flavour and it does not fade away as chewing gum does, invariably ending up tasting like saliva. The flavour in Banana Bread stays. It must be the beer version of the Everlasting Gobstoppers. Right, they do mention banoffee. Well, Iíd say itís banana cake. Yes, a delicious banana cake, curvy, perfumed and cosy, teasing the senses and seducing the palate. Perhaps one of those Nigella Lawson recipes. There you go! Thatís the reason why everyone loves the seduction of this beer.

Poured from bottle. Dark caramel color with 1/2" head, which dissipated in a minute or two. Aroma is mainly banana coupled with yeast or dough. Thereís more such as maybe a note of sweet caramel(?), but I donít believe this was an attempt at a nuanced beer. Tastes immediately of bananas, with a moderate hit of carbonation. This quickly gives way to a wave of nutty, earthy, malty goodness. Fades abruptly to a dry, sweet, vanilla-dominated afterglow. Very good beer. Put the components together, and it tastes very much like banana bread. Prefer this to my motherís banana bread because it has the added effect of getting me drunk. :)
