This dark golden coloured ale hugs the palate with great intensity. Its malty aroma is complemented by the gentle nose of Banana. Its flavour unfolds with a sensual sparkle and a smart crispness, which balances its aroma perfectly. Tropically fruity; its ripe banana flavour, emphasised by a hint of bitterness, comes from the addition of real fair trade bananas and finishes with an emphatic, steely dryness.

Does what it says on the label! Had a session drinking this recently at the Elbow Room, Tottenham, London N17, and the banana flavour was repeating on me for days. Much better in cask than in bottle, with a much rounder chewy maltiness. The bottled beer can taste a little thin, like Bombardier with some essence of Banana added. In cask it tastes more like an experimental craft beer. It tastes better than it has a right to.

Cask at RnH listed as Banana Bread Bitter with Linh, Streets, Goldylocks, and Grandpa. Pours deep red with no head or lacing. Aroma is light sweet banana desert. Mouthfeel is super light and smooth with light notes of banana candy and slight dryness.

[Cask at Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading] Light amber, small white head and a modest fizz. Gentle creamy mouthfeel. Banana cake throughout with a soft maltiness. A gentle friendly beer, much nicer than the bottled version, but still rather too sweet by the end.

Cask @ Henglers Circus, JDW. Clear orange colour, dense white head. Aroma of banana, foamy banana candy, bread. Flavour is sweet banana, light bready, a bit dry. It has banana and it has bread just as promised, but not really my kind of thing.

From cask at Willow Walk. Pours deep amber, clear, and with a small off-white head. Aroma is distinct banana fruity. Flavour too is fresh, yet not overly sweet banana flavoured. Doesn’t come through too artificially. Yet not my thing. Ends medium dry.

Cask at the Crosse Keys, JDW. Clear, red-gold pour with a creamy, bubbly white head. Artificial banana bread nose. Light to medium sweet flavor, banana-flavored candy, hints of bitterness. Medium bodied, slighty syrupy with average carbonation. Sweet finish, more of the same faux-banana character. Not terrible but doesn’t do too much for me.

Cask Conditioned handpump Rowell Charter Rothwell. A mid brown coloured beer with a good white head and a little lace. Bananas throughout. Pretty strong in both nose and mouth. A decent body to the beer and drinkable although does feel a bit gimmicky. Some strawberries and custard too. Tolerable enough.

downender (7925) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - FEB 12, 2011
Cask-conditioned at the Highbury Vaults, Bristol 12/02/2011. Deep amber with a slight, off-white head. Sweet, fruity aroma with some dried banana and caramel. Flavour had plenty of banana, which was offset by some decent malts to start with, but soon became overpowering. I regretted having a pint rather than a half.
