COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Occasional.
This dark golden coloured ale hugs the palate with great intensity. Its malty aroma is complemented by the gentle nose of Banana. Its flavour unfolds with a sensual sparkle and a smart crispness, which balances its aroma perfectly. Tropically fruity; its ripe banana flavour, emphasised by a hint of bitterness, comes from the addition of real fair trade bananas and finishes with an emphatic, steely dryness.

Cask at the Crosse Keys, JDW. Clear, red-gold pour with a creamy, bubbly white head. Artificial banana bread nose. Light to medium sweet flavor, banana-flavored candy, hints of bitterness. Medium bodied, slighty syrupy with average carbonation. Sweet finish, more of the same faux-banana character. Not terrible but doesn’t do too much for me.

Cask Conditioned handpump Rowell Charter Rothwell. A mid brown coloured beer with a good white head and a little lace. Bananas throughout. Pretty strong in both nose and mouth. A decent body to the beer and drinkable although does feel a bit gimmicky. Some strawberries and custard too. Tolerable enough.

Cask-conditioned at the Highbury Vaults, Bristol 12/02/2011. Deep amber with a slight, off-white head. Sweet, fruity aroma with some dried banana and caramel. Flavour had plenty of banana, which was offset by some decent malts to start with, but soon became overpowering. I regretted having a pint rather than a half.

JDW, Rochester. Autumn 09 Spoon Fest. Drinkable with a fake banana flavour - even though real bananas are used. OK, but a little odd.

This banana ale brew wasn’t that bad. I feel that the ratings for this beer are under-rated. I enjoyed it. Somewhat similar to a weisse beer taste only an "ale".

Cask at Bankers Draft (JDW), Bedford in ’Spoons BF ’09. Copper amber with a small white head. Aroma is sweet, slightly overripe banana, which is quite convincing. Taste lets it down. The flavour is artificial and nasty like a 1950’s banana flavour ice lolly or penny chew. Malt and some bitterness do their best to conceal the unpleasantness.

Hastily guzzled noontime half in the window of The Baron (JDW) with all the old boys. Sometimes my RB habit makes me feel like a right loser. Brilliant chestnut with a big foaming ivory collar. Fresh milky banana aroma, plenty of Frijj, candy cigs, dusting of clove, lace like wool, dab of apple. Some herbal coriander leaf or parsley touches. Nah... nothing but banana, really and I’m a sucker for it. Some wheat and gentle hop to finish. Having a bit of a Namyslow Plum moment. Against all expectations, Beer of The Festival So Far for me...

Cask, The Highcross, Leicester. Amber with an off-white head. Aromas are raisins and banana with light weetabix. Flavours are thin chocolate and weetabix malts with some cream. Banana milkshake syrup which is quite artificial. The bottled version is better as it hides its flaws.

Handpulled cask at the GBBF a year or so back.Copper with a weak off white head. As pointless then as it is now. Banana and yeast are the prominant flavours. The result is neither thirst quenching nor enjoyable.

Tastes exactly like you think its going to. Great alcohol content, amazing taste and a reasonable price
