bottle: Very impressed with this brew and glad to read that it is a bitter. To me this had all the outstanding qualities of a summer brew: fruitiness, slight bitterness and massive quafability. Thanks to Lord Beamish for this treasure. These old school English ales & European beers with the lower alcohol content show how light beers can have so much flavour going on. Sadly, most average guys will be turned off by the English hops & bitterness. It is beyond my comprehension that this beer is rated so much lower than some really crappy beers (i.e. Tankhouse Ale, Schlenkerla’s awful smoke beer, etc.).

Deep amber colour. Fresh hoppy aroma. Great balance of fresh hops and malt makes this a clean and easy to drink beer with a sharp edge on the finish.

Bottle. Pours gold! With slight white head. Toasty caramel malts and hop aroma. Slight grassy hops, caramel malt, some decent bitterness. Ah, reminds me of British pubs. Certainly nothing remarkable here, but it’s simply a really good bitter.

Bottled. An amber beer with a lazing orangey head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and elderflowers. The flavor is sweet with notes of elderflowers and straw, leading to a bitter finish. Nothing special.

Bottle (clear, boo!), LCBO. Dark golden yellow, small but thick bubbly white head, lots of streaming bubbles. Fruity, grassy, sweet aroma. Taste - nice hoppy bite mixed with fruity malt. Clear bottle had no affect, this seems fresh. Malt is very bready and cereal like, body is soft and possibly just a tad watery. Ratings surprise me, this a pretty solid English bitter in bottle form.

Bottle. Golden beer with a very strong head The aroma is dry and lightly caramel, and the flavour is dry and weakly toffee. Overall a smooth drinkable beer.
