UPDATED: JUN 13, 2014 Cask @ Foresters Arms, Bedford. Very faint aroma: some hop but mostly unidentifiable grain and butter. A metallic note, like extra hard water. Reasonable bittersweet taste, refreshing although there isn’t much to it. This is very unimaginative but drinkable. Below the standard I’d expect from Wells and Young.

Aroma: light malty, bread, cereals, some caramel. Appearance: clear gold, small white head. Taste: light bitter. Palate: light malty sweets, some bread, light bitters coming up, but overall boring. Overall: OK Golden Ale, but struggles to stand out. Pint at Paxtons Head, Knightsbridge.

Cask at the Brickmakers, Windlesham, 18/05/14. Clear light golden with a well appointed white head that retains well. Nose is pale malt, light citrus, hint of peach, floral notes. Taste comprises light caramel, grass, lemon jus, bread dough. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, light drying bitter notes in the close. Ok Golden Blonde, not unpleasant, Fuggles and Goldings so the hops aren’t really coming through like other beers in this style.

BlackHaddock (3645) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 10, 2014
9th May 2014 hand-pulled pint in The Park Hotel, Wellington Shropshire. Light golden brew with a good white crown. Slightly more hoppy than malty, a pleasant enough beer without setting the world alight, better than the bottled version IMHO. Nice blend.
