RileyOBaba (33), , Ohio, USA Jun 25, 2008 attractive bottle, perfectly condtioned pours an exact pint , low carb.......dark brown color.......hoppy/malty, ......hint of tobacco influence...........a mainstay and a great English ale..... spagyetti (68), Puyallup, Washington, USA Jun 20, 2008 Bottle, A solid pint of bitters! Fresh and earthy, sweet even. Nice head that mellowed a little too soon, but still worth the effort! well done. Kevman (28), Windsor, Ontario, Canada Jun 15, 2008 Had it with vegetarian pizza, very strong aroma of maple, with a sweet flavour. Had a strong creamy tan head and a very dark colour. Very good beer, I’ll buy it again. FlssmrBrewAlum (1079), Lisle, Illinois, USA Jun 15, 2008 Tall bottle poured into a pint glass at Kroll’s South Loop (Chicago, IL). Pours an impressive deep dark mohagany with a tan smaller head that slowly dissipates. Aromas are malty, caramel and bready notes dominate with some lighter hop notes. Initial taste is fairly light bodied for its color. A pleasant malt and hop balance with lighter flavors that are still well represented. Very smooth and refreshing finish. A great session beer! Cybercat (778), Georgia, USA Jun 13, 2008 Pours a semi-transparent light mahogany or coppery brown. Aroma is hoppy with some traces of spices and a little malt component. Flavor is almost more winey than beery, fairly fruity and a little malty, and has a strong nip to it, as well as some strong but pleasant hoppy bitterness. It goes down smoothly and with pizzazz. zootfinster (179), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 1, 2008 Nice amber color, medium size white head. Suitably malty and bitter. Sweetness works well in opposition to the bitterness. A pretty good beer MarkBarnes (264), Waterville, New York, USA May 28, 2008 May 28, 2008; pint+ bottle. Golden-brown, maple-syrup colored pour; moderate head concentrated around the the rim of the glass; some lacing. Luscious aroma of sweet candy/toffee/caramel malt -- just what one would expect to encounter with the style. Nice bitterness, but there isn’t quite enough character or complexity to completely sustain Fulleresque expectations past the first few seconds. That said, I enjoyed this a great deal and think it’s almost-criminally underrated at its current "66". estoppel (1028), Buffalo, New York, USA May 27, 2008 Bottle. Goldings nose, dark amber body, off-white head with some retention. Serious caramel sweetness with Goldings notes and mild bitterness. No particular base-malt character. Drinkable, a bit boring.
