Fratto (670), Arlington, Texas, USA Sep 22, 2009 From the Gingerman Fort Worth. Kind of bland. But kind of woody quality to it. It’s also thick like the UK. BrewingFan (44), Texas, USA Sep 19, 2009 Aroma consists of raisin and floral hops. beautiful dark copper ale. The taste just didn’t live up to the hype or the appearance. I think I will need to try this one again. BeerChaser0078 (284), Melbourne, Australia Sep 13, 2009 500ml Bottle. Pours clear light copper with a small beige head that dissipates fairly quickly. Very little, almost nonexistent aroma, just a mild whiff of malt. Flavour is more substantial with slightly bitter malt and hops, caramel and a hint of raisin toast. Nothing overly exciting, just a standard, mainstream, by-the-numbers ale, but having said that, it’s still easy to drink. jjuf1853 (467), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA Sep 9, 2009 Draft. Pours a copper amber color with a beige head. English toffee/caramel malt aroma and flavor with hoppy bitterness in the finish. Decent ESB. kragelund (50), , Denmark Sep 7, 2009 (Can 50 cl.) Pours beatifully copper red with a beige haed. Hoppy aroma.. Light body with crystal malty flavour. wheresthepath (523), Buckinghamshire, England Sep 5, 2009 [500ml bottle at Tara & Ian’s - cheers!] I’m not a big fan of the flavour of the cask version of this, so I wasn’t exactly looking forward to the pasteurised version. It pours a rather lifeless and unappealing copper colour. Fizzy, with a fast fading white head. There’s a little earthy malt in the flavour, but it’s really just a weak, watery mess of minerals and pasteurised metallics. There’s no substance or self belief in it. At least the cask version has the guts to stand up and shout that it’s proud of it’s unusual flavour - this simply tries to hide it. Can’t believe they advertise this muck as the "Drink of England", it can’t be doing much to help promote our beer industry abroad. I wonder if I can get Camra to sue Wells for misrepresentation... Dragonblaze99 (349), Greater London, England Sep 5, 2009 Faint sweetish aroma. Amber with large head. Flavour is caramel giving way to chocolate and coffee. Some hoppy bitterness. Medium body. Finishes bitter with slight toffee note. Not bad. RuneStumo (495), FØRRESFJORDEN, Norway Sep 4, 2009 04.09.2009, 0,5l Can. Pale brown colour with white head. Aroma is malty. Its both sweet and dry. Caramel malt with bitterness in a way. not to much body. There is a very nice bitterness at the end of the aftertaste.
