500ml Bottle: Pours rust in colour, almost no head from my bottle. The aroma promises burnt sugar, licorice, citrus fruit, and sadly, a bit of metal. The metal continues to come through in the flavour, as well as lots of bitter hops and sweet UK-style malting and nutty aftertastes. Quite watery, but well balanced and flavoured.

Rich aroma of brown malt and darkish fruit. Mahogany color with a coarse beige/tan head. Near medium in body with fizzy carbonation. Flavor is mild roasted malt, perhaps a bit nutty, with arguably floral bitter. There is a bit of heat. The finish is decently dry, and there is hop in the finish. A mild drink which is exceptionally tasty, though fresh from the cask is better.

this was a very nice english bitter, nutty brown color, with off white head. a nice semi sweet malted beer that finishes a creamy fruit with slightly bitter aftertaste.

Pours very nice. Clear darker amber with brown hue. Very crème head. Nice size, nice lacing down the side too. Nose is not overly exciting. Slight woody edge. Not much really going on. Flavor is good. Nice malty complexity. Good level of caramel sugary sweetness. Nice wood tones. Feel is silky with carbonation and a good liquid body. Very drinkable. I am sure there are more exciting examples of the style, but this one goes down smooth and has a nice level of flavor character. A pleasure to drink. I wonder what this would be like on cask...

This canned brew from a bottle shop poured a large sized head of finely sized tan colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a transparent typically carbonated nut brown colored body. The mild aroma was brown malt. The crisp mouth feel was very tingly at the start and at the finish. The nice flavor contained notes of mild hops nutty and brown malt. A decent one that I would consider buying again.

Nice golden color and good head and aroma. To put it short and sweet, it’s a nice bitter with many notes of malt, hops and fruits. The bitterness is perfect for this beer and is present from the beginning to the end, and the finish is nice and long. Very early rating from 2004.

Bottle... Poured ruby with a thick beige head. Strong malt aroma. Really fizzy palate with flavors caramel, toasted malt and maybe a nutty character. Mild hops which is balanced by a solid sweetness.
