Yves (960), Beerse, Belgium Aug 2, 2009 Clear amber coloured beer with medium white head and lots of carbonation. Slightly hoppy aorma, rather few aroma. Full palate bit sparkling. Finish is bitter sweet getting more bitter near the end. humulushound (109), British Columbia, Canada Jul 25, 2009 Copper red ale with large foamy white cap and nice lacing. Aroma is mild, burnt caramel and grassy hops. Flavor is caramel, grassy and metallic notes, dough and a light bitter finish. Prunes? Maybe a little. Smooth and drinkable but a bit thin if you ask me. mkel07 (469), Brisbane, Australia Jul 25, 2009 500ml bottle. Dark burnt copper colour with a velvety beige tan head. Murky and hazy with an aroma of spiced fruit and christmas pudding. Strong bitter taste with a slightly metallic aftertaste. dalek123 (103), Houston, Texas, USA Jul 25, 2009 Pours reddish copper with a small offwhite head. Nose is caramel, yeast. Taste is sweet up front, with notes of caramel, dough, and spice. Mild bitterness in the finish. A nice ESB. Butters (1622), Virginia, USA Jul 20, 2009 Bottle shared with brent and curly at woody’s. Pours a clearish mohogany brown with beige head. Nose of caramel sweetness. I’m glad this is missing the typical ’tea’ taste that I have to come to associate with many english bitters. Not bad for what it is, but certainly doesn’t fit my tastes. Elwood (635), Leesburg, Virginia, USA Jul 17, 2009 1 pt. bottle. Pours an amber brown that is like the color of tea. Nice pillowy off-white head. Sweet malt, a touch of caramel, light brown sugar, and a touch of earth in the nose. Medium carbonation with a medium mouthfeel. Caramel malt sweetness, a bit of a metallic note, and just a bit of a sour note, like sourdough bread. A very mild hop note lurks in there too. A medium, sweet finish with just a touch of bitterness. Unfortunately the metallic note keeps ringing through, lessening the experience. kopher (291), New York, USA Jul 15, 2009 clear orange-brown, thin fizzy beige head.
very bready aroma, just smells like yeasty dough with a bit of caramel.
flavor is much more caramel, a bit of malt and doughy finish.
a bit thin bodied, and maybe too much carbonation.
this is good, but the flavor is a bit flat. bobinlondon (786), Harrow, Greater London, England Jul 6, 2009 Nitrokeg at Harvester in Bushey Heath. Mid brown with nitrocream head. I visit this pub with wife and kids quite regularly and tend to drink this. The London Pride that it has replaced suffered from low tuirnover so this is a safe bet. I have to say that I prefere this to the cask. I seems to have a citrus edge to the hop profile.
