Deep red-brown, tan head, excellent retention and lacing. Roasted sweet malt and floral hop aromas, faint yeast. Full malt palate with a large hop character and a big bitter finish. One of the better bottled bitters I’ve tried.

There is a malty aroma with a fruity background. The color is golden with reddish hints a beige head. A malty beginning is followed by a roasted finish with a bit of hoppy bitterness.

Elle serait meilleur dans une bouteille brune, mais elle est assé bonne. Pas trop amère, légé mais bonne saveur.

File this under "How the hell did I miss rating that" file. I was glad when the lcbo added this to its regular line up a couple of years ago. Pasteurized English ales (and Guinness) were my gateway beers and this one holds up pretty well. It looks nice, deep dark brown with a creamy thick off white head. Aroma of break, malt, and English hops - a touch of caramel as well. Mouthfeel is thinner than I remember, but the taste is pleasant - sweet malt, more hops than I remember, and a lingering fruitiness. Nice sold dark bitter, as good as it gets over here in a pasteurized version without the name Fullers on it.

Had this in a pint bottle, enjoyed it very much, hint of hops but balanced very well as you drink

Yummy and quaffable and very easy to drink even though there is not much too it. Standard fare ESB, bready malt somewhat of a smooth mouthfeel, with some nice bittering hops

I’m inclined to think this is underrated. This produces a decent head with some cascades of lacing, a very malty, chocolate/toffee nose and taste, with satisfying body and hoppiness. Very toasty and earthy. The metallic aftertaste was the only major flaw.
