Papsoe (14613), Frederiksberg, Denmark Nov 22, 2005 (Bottle 50 cl) Beautiful reddish golden - almost coppery - with a handsome, dense head. Very goodlooking. Not overly full-bodied but quite refined and complex with a good mix of malt and some surprising almost cherryish notes. Marked hoppy finish. 200101 leaparsons (4659), Leicester, Leicestershire, England Nov 8, 2005 Bottle. Nice fresh aroma for starters. Its a shame that the rest of the beer is a bit of a wimp. More bitterness, please! CampbellWilson (533), Scotland Oct 23, 2005 Bottle from Asda. Red amber with beige head. Aroma of toasty malt, peachy hop, earth, butterscotch. Firm mouthfeel let down by the carbonation. Good bitter finish. 11026 (1799), Alabama, USA Sep 29, 2005 Tap at Horsebrass. Deep copper colored and clear. Scant whitish head forms and fades rather quickly with slight trails of lacing left behind. Malty aroma with earthy hops. Medium bodied. Decent balance between caramel sweetness and earthy hopping. Fair bitter, probably very representitive of the English style. blankboy (3157), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 27, 2005 Bottle. Pours a lovely dark copper with a large frothy off-white head. Fair lacing and lots of bubbles. Very mild aroma of malt, hops, fruit and toffee. Flavour starts with a fruity spicy malt flavour and then gives way to a mild hop bitterness. Very smooth but a touch too mild. This is a great Bitter and one of my favourite easy-to-get beers, I buy it often. beanmedic (324), Hamilton, Ontario, Canada Sep 26, 2005 bottle. subdued fruity/malty aroma. little to no head. head was greyish for what there was. pleasant malt taste. active carbonation, unusual for the lack of head. ALLOVATE (1126), Perth, Australia Sep 23, 2005 Beeryum!!! This went down a treat. Had mad expectations after staring at ’MattBob’s’ Avatar, had to see if the beer meets the grandish bottle presentation. Poured into an English pint glass, cool and not cold, clear deep russet brown body with very, very fine carbonation raising up an extraordinarily dense, creamy off-white crown that lasted the length and left rings down the glass. 5 for 5 on presentation. Husky, woody and slightly smoked, toasted malt nose with an underlying hint of prunes and sultanas that progressed into the taste. Rich fruit and muesli grain mix in the mouth; sultanas, toasted and burnt malt, and some woody, nutty notes. Body was lighter than expected. A little sweet upfront, but the mid-palate and beyond dries out, with fruit and dark malts following through into a husky and bitter, yet quite refreshing, smoky malt and grassy hops swallow. Unexpectedly good, balanced and easy to drink. A nice Bitter. (568ml, 5.2%, BBE 02/06) ryananderson (74), Ontario, Canada Sep 19, 2005 Updated: Jan 31, 2006(5.2% bottle) Aroma is lightly hopped with caramel notes. Average size frothy off-white head which produces good lacing and is mostly lasting. Colour is dark red. Light to moderate bitterness with some sweetness present. There is also some hop spiciness and alcohol in the finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
