Color is a very fine ruby-brown hue with a creamy beige head of moderate proportions, fair retention. Very good-looking in the glass...The aroma is a hearty blend of malts that are at once lightly fruity with hints of caramel. Quite nice. The flavor is anchored by the light but complex malt base. The hops are nicely bittered but in good proportion to the malts. Carbonation is just enough to enhance the bite of the hops. The finish is quite clean, with a slight lingering spiciness. The mouthfeel of this bitter opts for effervescence over smooth refinement. Body is medium-light, and feels about right for the style. Overall, this is most pleasant: flavorful, well-balanced, and refreshing.

A proper pint sized bottle! Burnt gold, with a good white head. A complex, yet satisfying nose, malt and citrussy hops compete for your attention, and both succeed. It’s pretty much the same on palate, a very well balanced bitter, with a lipsmackin’ finish. Truly a fine brew, not, however recommended for a session!

Bottle, a year past it best before date, March 04, in my keeping. Superb. Dark reddish brown. Thick, foamy off-white, lasting head. Nicely sweet, nutty and caramel tasting, full bodied, with nice noticable alcohol.

Pours a copper with brown highlights. Dense, short white head on top. Slow rising bubbles of carbonation take their time floating in the liquid. Attractive looking beer. Fruity, toasted caramel malt, a touch of smoke for aroma. Slightly stale, caramel apples, iced tea flavors. Solid malt body, with some fruity bitterness at the end. Pretty decent ESB.

Fridge Temp. Very little aroma. Brandy colored with a fizzy tan head that quickly diminishes. Very little flavor; hints of roasted malt. A bit watery and a bit bitter on the finish. Totally inoffensive; mediocrity in a bottle. Did not a great improvement as it warmed up: drink at room temp.

Pours a relatively dark amber. Much darker than the picture. A large off white head. Aroma is iced tea and some sweat socks. Taste is a weird iced tea and some dry apple. HInts of dirt and cheap cocoa. Nothing very impressive. A grainy mouthfeel. One of the worst, if not the worst, ESB’s I have had.
