This is odd... the label of the beer I bought is identical to the picture, but my bottle is 5.2% alcohol instead of the 4.7% listed here. And nowhere does it call this an ESB. Anyway... I like this beer. Just the right mix of ale flavor and bitterness. Not too much and too little. An excellent English Ale.

I just found this "Drink of England" very boring, more going on the label than the actual beer, looks good, tastes average.

Tonight, I quite enjoyed this beer, even though it was a ’between-GOOD-beers-beer’. See what I did, there? Showed my arrogant pretentiousness. And y’know what? I will now arrogantly claim that this was, indeed, really quite all right. I wouldn’t want to have two in a row, but that’s not the point. It is what it am, and it ain’t what it’s not.

Bottle, poured into pub pint glass. Dark amber with a 1 inch off-white toward tan head that fades to a thin line with lacing after 5 minutes or so. Sweet, musty malt aroma. Moderate carbonation, typical for English ales. Body is on the thin side. A very English initial malt with a bit of bitterness tingling and bready yeast taste. The hops come through in the aftertaste, but only slightly bitter, which lingers on the tongue for a long time. If you like English pale ales, this one is a good example of the style.

Surprisingly easy to drink, yet so bitterly like a true Brit. Lovely finish when the beer goes down the palate.

Fantastic ESB, good caramel flavor and fruited taste. Aroma...where is? Just bitter hops. Awsome drinkability

Rated based on notes taken 22 Feb 2012 -- I believe the description of this beer is a little over-zealous. Tasted like a dry stout.

Poured a dark amber colour with a thin white head that left little lacing. Aroma is of light fruity and herbal spice malts. Flavor is of caramel, peppercorns, and malt,
