The cask is a very good bitter, while I would never buy the bottle again. The cask is a nicely balanced beer between just enough fuggles hops to go with a hint of caramel. 5000 (2900), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 6, 2005 Draught @ Brouwer’s Cafe pours dark amber, moderate off-white head, nice lacing, with light carbonation. Soft malt nose, apple skin, and maybe even a bit of dark pitted fruit showing up. Malty on the tongue, very mild dark pitted fruit, not much bite. Twas a bit unexpected for a Premium Bitter. Moderate body and mouthfeel. Lingering malts and that ever so subtle dark pitted fruit. Minor appleskin as well. A bit heavier than what I was thinking, but still decent.

Clear bronze body, medium tan head with good lacing and good retention. Aroma is earthy, nutty, caramel, raisins. Taste is a letdown. Light taste is cake malt, some raisins and a touch of caramel, a bit nutty. The problem is the body. Very light body but not in a watery way. Actually light in a airy way, like drinking air. He beer has no attack, just a finish of roasted raisin bread with mild bitterness. 568ml imperial pint bottle. thebeertourist (2867), Oslo, Norway
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 16, 2007 Can. Hazy orangey brown with a huge offwhite head. Potent, grassy hop aroma. Grass hits the tongue to be followed by moderate toffee, still ending quite dry. Light-bodied. Thirst-quencher for the advanced. Rune (2863), Tromsø, Norway

Blended aroma of brown and black malts. Sharp caramel flavour. The finish contains burnt malt and a nice hint of bitterness (11.08.2006). after4ever (2859), Brier, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 12/20 | Jul 16, 2006 Draft at the Barking Dog. Two different pints, near the beginning and end of a keg. Dark brown with a sturdy medium-depth head on the early glass; the late-in-the-keg glass had some lacing but that was it. Creamy but still enormously refreshing on a hot day--that’s not something you can say very often. Plenty of carb. Sweet dark malt, toffee, molasses, some light earthy hop at the end. The late pint picked up some ground coffee (a la MJB) notes, not char or acid but that heavy dryness was a surprise. DougShoemaker (2856), Toronto, Canada
