Notes of weak fruits, bitterness, many ingredients, A thirstquencher with a dry finish! igneous1 (1374), Davenport, Iowa, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 8, 2004 very deep amber color, brownish really. head is nice and creamy, tan. sour apples in the aroma (which i tend to find in most english bitters and IPAs), but this one has some buttery notes. the flavor has a vinous mouthfeel, somewhat like a pinot noir. decent mouthfeel too. ilovedarkbeer (1369), Dallas, Texas, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 3, 2007 Smells of yeasty. Pours an amber color with a nice big fluffy off white head. Tastes like caramel, sugar, and malt. Good solid bitter with a soft after taste. Sully (1367), Woolloomooloo, New South Wales, Australia
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Dec 5, 2003 This presents like your typical English ale. Good deep colour and creamy head. The goldings hop is prominent in both aroma and taste. I am starting to curse you ratebeer, as you have asked us to lift our tasting palate to the extent that many beers are not as good we would have first assessed. This is a good beer with some of the qualities noted by Roger Protz. I think you need to drink this on tap. Dorqui (1365), Brescia, Italy
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Apr 23, 2005 Draught. Discreet and persistent foam. Extinguished and firm aspect, a lot little bubbly. Intense red color. Bitter scent and herbal hoppiness. Dry and deeply bitter taste, little fresh and enough persistent. To me, badly draught. jaymobrown (1363), Chicago, Illinois, USA

| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Aug 17, 2006 Dark ruby-tinged carmel with a half-hearted attempt at a layer of course white. Oddly, after a second pour, still not much head, but the little bit that’s there seems rather tenacious. I started this beer a bit on the cold side, and it smelled and tasted downright unpleasant. With some warming, it certainly improves, at least to the point where I’m not making faces after each sip. Sort of a rough earthy carmel aroma. Vegetal, dark bread flavors. As much as some low abv bitters seem to have more flavor than they gravity would indicate, this beer has less. Flabby. Bah.
