Nice pillowy off-white head. Sweet malt, a touch of caramel, light brown sugar, and a touch of earth in the nose. Medium carbonation with a medium mouthfeel. Caramel malt sweetness, a bit of a metallic note, and just a bit of a sour note, like sourdough bread. A very mild hop note lurks in there too. A medium, sweet finish with just a touch of bitterness. Unfortunately the metallic note keeps ringing through, lessening the experience. wnp22 (682), Toronto (Roncesvalles Village), Ontario, Canada

| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Aug 22, 2007 568ml bottle. Pours the typical deep orange-red, with a small cap, that’s dense and lasts. The aroma is mostly malts, fruity, with some alcohol. The taste is pretty much the same with a fruity after-taste and a minor hop presence. It’s dry for sure, and the ever so slightly higher alcohol content is actually sort of evident. Decent but not out of this world. The aroma is actually pretty unpleasant. I don’t understand the high score, maybe I’m just not a fan of this style. Otje (668), Leiden, Netherlands
