1 Pt. 0.9 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Dark reddish brown with a very small head and not a whole lot of lacing. Aroma of fruits and raisins combined malts and brown sugar notes. Taste is consistent earthy flavors with a nice bitterness to it; is perhaps a bit watery but not bad.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Clear, dark amber pour with very small, short lasting white head. Smell is slightly hoppy and bready with lovely cake and caramel notes.
Medium body with subtle carbonation. Texture is a bit watery. Bittersweet. Aroma is malty with hops in the background, some fruit, caramel, toffee, nuts. A bit of alcohol in the aftertaste.
Overall, not bad, but it comes out a bit thin in the end.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Appearance: clear deep amber with one finger of fine light beige ivory head, excellent retention and good lacing. (5/5) Aroma: caramel and toffee, nonspecific fruity esters, earthy. (6/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate-low bitter. (6/10) Palate: medium body tending to watery, moderate carbonation, off-dry slightly astringent finish. (3/5)
“Glorious”? I think not. “Acceptable,” perhaps. I’m trying to avoid my tendency to want everything to taste like an IPA or a sour, but really, this is pretty plain. The other thing about this is, it’s really very reminiscent of their Sticky Toffee Pudding. In fact, when I reviewed the Sticky Toffee Pudding, I said it was like mixing “one unremarkable ESB and one bag of Werther’s Originals.” Well, I think this is that unremarkable ESB. It’s not terrible, and I could see drinking a large amount of it in some small dark pub, but it’s not exactly going to thrill you. (13/20)

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
For me, the blueprint for an English style bitter. More bitter than Fullers ESB and in my opinion better balanced. This is the export version at 5.2%, consumed in volume, in Thailand.
