COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Roused by William Blake's Jerusalem, Wells Sanatic Mills epitomises all that is great in English brewing. Like the original Bombardier Premium Bitter, this rich, dark ale is uniquely brewed using natural mineral water from an independently accredited source; our own well. Created by Wells and Young's, Satanic Mills uses the finest English 'Fuggles' and 'Goldings' hops. Sampled by hand, only the most flavoursome part of the ripest hops is used, guaranteeing a delicious fruity aroma and exceptionally smooth palate. Satanic Mills is brewed using 'Ale' and 'Chocolate' malt, intensely roasted to give the ale its dark colour and intense depth of flavour. The malt is carefully crushed, not ground to enhance the complex flavours and create a creamy head.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a brown shine under a brown head. The aroma has light notes of both sweet and roasted malt. The flavor is sweet wtih notes of roasted malt as well as light notes of roasted coffee and cocoa, leading to a dry, bitter, and roasted finish.

Aroma of coffee and burnt barley. Very dark looking beer, head is a little thin though. Tastes like burnt wood, beans, coffee, barley. Quite bitter aftertaste. I’m not totally familiar with the style but it could use just a little more complexity.

Bottle at a friend’s BBQ a year or so back. Dark brown with a beige head. The best rendition in the Bombadier range by far. Roasty malts with plenty of chocolate and liquorice. Enough hops in the finish too.

From the bottle it pours with a creamy-frothy light brown head and almost black in colour. Aroma of chocolate, coffee and resinous hops. Tastes of dried fruits and spices and a subtle burnt aftertaste with a slight spicy warmth.

Bottle from Asda, May 2008. Wasn’t expecting too much but this turned out to be surprisingly enjoyable. Very dark. Nice condition - not too fizzy for a carbonated beer. Smoky, burnt, roasty aroma. Firm mouthfeel. Plenty of chocolate and a smattering of hops on the palate with some licorice twists. Yes, I rather liked this.
