Commercial Description:
Roused by William Blake's Jerusalem, Wells Sanatic Mills epitomises all that is great in English brewing. Like the original Bombardier Premium Bitter, this rich, dark ale is uniquely brewed using natural mineral water from an independently accredited source; our own well. Created by Wells and Young's, Satanic Mills uses the finest English 'Fuggles' and 'Goldings' hops. Sampled by hand, only the most flavoursome part of the ripest hops is used, guaranteeing a delicious fruity aroma and exceptionally smooth palate. Satanic Mills is brewed using 'Ale' and 'Chocolate' malt, intensely roasted to give the ale its dark colour and intense depth of flavour. The malt is carefully crushed, not ground to enhance the complex flavours and create a creamy head.

Not the worst beer I’ve ever had but there’s just not much to it. The dark creamy head collapses quickly and leaves a bit of disappointment in it’s wake. Burnt coffee aroma and not much on the palate. Like I said though, not the worst beer i’ve ever had.

Bottle in London. Talk about a stupid name for a beer! Coffee and cocoa nose. Dark beer, lovely fluffy head. Roasted malt flavour, not much else.

Bottle. Sample at Göteborgs Porterfestival. Black colour with a beige head. Roasted malt, coffee, cocoa, english hops, only lightly sweet. Dry finish. Light body/mouthfeel. Nice, but maybe just a bit too watery.

Rich, dark colour with tan head. Chocolate, coffe aroma, very nice. mouthfeel is very smooth and velvety with some coffe like bitterness and great balance. Personally I’d prefer some more thickness in the mouthfeel, but this is a really good porter.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a brown shine under a brown head. The aroma has light notes of both sweet and roasted malt. The flavor is sweet wtih notes of roasted malt as well as light notes of roasted coffee and cocoa, leading to a dry, bitter, and roasted finish.
