can: Well I for one like the 2L plastic bottle. I also think Well’s puts out some rather under-rated beers, which is suprisingly their lager & this IPA, and not their bitters (although John Bull is amazing). I think the can has it right: this is not so much a Bitter as an IPA, and it tastes that way in style & spirit, for which I give it high marks. (I was all worried this was a North American marketing ploy to say IPA up front to get a bitter in everyone’s hands). This IPA manages to be dry & hoppy without finishing bitter which is more than you can say for many of the IPA’s brewed in these parts which have no body or way too much body, and no smoothness to speak of (Wellington’s, Niagara Falls, Mill St.’s horrid Tankhouse and Keiths). If you want a bitter, don’t buy this (buy Fuller’s London Pride) but if you want a IPA, give this a try & you might like its bold flavours. Their Lager is great too if your looking for a lager with a little more depth & bite (it’s a nice winter lager for me).

500ml can: Dark amber colour with lasting creamy head. Moderate aromas of citrus, herbal hops and metal. Nice rich malt taste albeit something thin. Good earthiness but a raspy bitter middle and end. A decent brew that lacks true IPA hop character.

Pours a reddish amber color with a weak white head. Aroma was mainly malty, definately not IPA like but with some hops mixed in. Flavor was a bit more bitter than the aroma. Not a bad beer coming from a 2 liter plastic bottle.

500 ml can: A true IPA in appearance....coppery/reddish colour.....unlike the gold of the supposed Keith’s IPA.....over hopped as it should be....makes for a nice thirst quencher.....however, nothing spectacular.

clear brownish ale. Aroma is cheap gran, and a touch of english hops, goldings i think. Flavour is quite grainy, nd corny with a slight hoppy finish, really not very enjoyable, tatses quite cheap, and very underwhelming, and unimpressinve.

I tried this on June 11, 2008 after purchasing from one of the local LCBO outlets in my town. The beer poured a beautiful translucent coppery red colour with a generous tan coloured head that quickly disippated into rocky caps on top. Effervescence was notable when held up to the light. The aroma was grainy malt with a little bit of vomit. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, slightly creamy, and mildly carbonated with a bitter finish. The flavour was grainy malt, with some grapefruity hoppy bitterness in the finish, just enough to be detected.
