"Creamy, full flavoured bitter, Eagle Smooth still retains the distinctive flavour of its regional Bedfordshire roots."

3.6%, brown colour with a good head, not much aroma, and a thin bitter taste, a very average smooth bitter.

Nitro keg at the Olde Kings Arms, Hemel Hempstead. Thin tasting despite the nitro. The pasteurisation process kills off any character in the IPA. Not very enjoyable, but drinkable.

Comical shaving foam froth. Some mellow leafy hops coming through. Above-average smooth retaining much of the character of the IPA. Obviously poured with the aid of a spirit level and aerosol of gillette.

This was the only bitter available at Bedford Blues Rugby Club. Served in a plastic glass it had a decent enough head and was a nice colour. I suppose ’smooth’ means tasteless, because I could discern little in the way of aroma or flavour. Certainly there wasn’t any bitterness as the term is generally understood. It wasn’t in any way unpleasant, just dull.

Keg at The Plough, Adderbury, Oxon. Brown and thick with soapy head. Low aroma and flavour, nothing seems to get through the nitrogen. Poor quality mess.

At the brewery. Creamy head. The normal Eagle does not have any distinctive flavour. Not even the weak flavour of it is retained in this smooth version. Very boring.
