A little on the sweet side, the honeyed notes seem to be stronger now than I remember. There is caramel from the pasteurisation, but not too badly done. Strange that this is marketed as a Wells beer now. Ah well. mkel07 (526), Brisbane, Australia

Looks strong in the glass and is a deep honey colour with a solid white head that lingers. Zesty earthy araomas and a well balanced honey flavour. Dry finish and mild sweetness. | 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Oct 23, 2009 Sweet honey aroma. Amber with little head. Flavour is caramel, hops and very little honey. Rather bitter. Thin body. Finishes bitter caramel apple, if you can imagine such a combination. I’ve had better. sound67 (201), Offenbach, Germany
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 19, 2009 50cl clear glass bottle, as shown. Pours a clean golden amber with almost no head and little lacing. Faint aroma of malt and, yes, some honey. Grainy, watery mouth feel, medium carbonation. Taste is also disappointingly bland, with only a whiff of honey in it, but mostly dry hops and malt. Medium bitter taste, not sweet at all(!), and a dry, mildly hoppy finish. The after taste has some honey-ish sweetness to it, but it’s all rather meek and mild. Of the honey-inflected English ales, Fuller’s Honey Dew communicates its raison d’etre far more convincingly. This brew is essentially a pale blonde, or rather, bland lager with honey as a weak afterthought. A major letdown after the same brewery’s excellent Special London Ale.
