One of the best beers I’ve had. Got it in Oxford. After going home to the US, I’ve never been able to find it at even the best imported beer joints.

I love this beer. Its sweet, has a mild yellow head and very amber coloured. It goes down a treat and is lovely, even better than a cold lager on a hot day. The smell is fresh and like summer and the taste is enhanced by the honey sweetness. Let down by the pub serving it a bit warm and not so fresh.

Cask. Dark golden colour, mediumsized beige head, lots of lacing. Aroma is honey, sweet fruits, some berries and balancing grassy hops. Flavour is very much the same, but has some very nectary notes. Also some wooden hints. Very nice casked!

Cask Conditioned at The Lamb, Bloomsbury. Golden Ale with little head. This has transferred well from Vaux brewery. A dry sweetness that hides the honey, which is a good thing, with light roasted malt flavours. Not a major hop beer, but easy drinking for a 5%.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 boto (1659) - Granby, Connecticut, USA - JUN 17, 2003
Cask Draught @ Spread Eagle Pub: The beer pulled a somewhat lighter amber color. There was a slight head, but probably a reflection of how it was pulled. There was little carbonation, also. The aroma was that of honey and malts. I was suprised at the lack of sweetness to it. There was no real bitterness also,, it tended to finish a hair sour. Also was very smooth!
3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 FatPhil (7494) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - SEP 24, 2007
Cask (Kings Arms, Oxford)
Amber, thin to no head. Slight beery aroma, no honey. Huge sweet malty taste, fills the palate, pleasant hoppy taste too, but the finish is pure rich lightly-rasted malt. Tiny hint of honey later.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Svesse (5195) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - AUG 26, 2006
(Cask at Lamb, Bloomsbury, London, 1 Aug) Colour is amber with small head. Nose is fruity with notes of orange, apricots and honey. Taste is fruity with orange (orange marmelade actually), honey sweetness throughout and a touch of earthy (Youngs trademark) hops in the finish to balance the sweetness. Balanced and rather nice.

Nice beer, the honey is certainly pleasant but little aftertaste and little satisfaction. Overall a decent but unremarkable pint.
