Draft at Bier Stein, Eugene. Pours a light straw color, lots of head. Aroma crisp, salty, maybe some spice. Body lively, easy-drinking, finish slightly sweet with a slight grassy presence. Great summer drinker.

UPDATED: OCT 3, 2013 Bottle @ home, picked up at Wilbur’s Fort Collins. We just got in Weltenburger into Fort Collins for the first time in my memory and the bottle of Pils I had was decently fresh, so I thought I would give this one a ride. Pour a clear golden yellow appearance with a white head. Grainy, light corn, herbal/straw, light vomit aroma, mild DMS aroma. Nice body. Somewhat metallic, light green apple, somewhat floral, a bit husky/grainy flavor. This bottle really doesn’t taste like it’s in the best shape. I was really hoping for a decent bottle but it looks like I’ll have to re-rate this next time I’m in Kelheim. Update: bottle picked up at Wilbur’s. Pretty fucken chill.

Bottle. Pours a clear gold with small white head, settles quickly with minimal lacing. Aroma is strong pale malt, somewhat skunky. Flavor reflects aroma, pale malt, skunky, mildly hoppy, slightly yeasty, dough, bitter finish. Didn’t taste quite as I had expected, though this is the first I’ve had of this style. Moderate carbonation. light body, and mildly crisp texture. Drinkable, mildly bitter, slightly skunky, a decent beer. Will have to try more of this style.

Serving: from bottle--purchased at Allendörfer. Aroma: light hay and hops aroma. Appearance: very small, white, initial head that disappeared within seconds. Clear, medium body. Taste: lightly bitter initial flavor and moderately sweet finish with average duration. Palate: medium body, dry texture, and lively carbonation. Overall: good, but nothing special. The finish is too sweet for my taste.

Bottle. Pours clear pale golden with airy but stable white head. Clear aroma of hops with pronounced yeasty and grainy notes. Bitter, hoppy onset, giving way to distinct yeasty and grainy sweetness, terminating on a subtle, bitter note. A nice Dortmunder.

Golden colour, clear, medium fading head, good lacing. Aroma was initially reminiscent of a Premium Lager but this gave way to malt and vanilla and later yeast and berries. Tasted toasted honey, orange, malt, hints of grain and wheat. Finish was sharp, wheaty and slightly bitter. Texture slightly thick, heavy carbonation resulted in a coarse edge. Overall this was more of an Export than a Helles as it had that slightly in your face character. Was impressed by the depth which was better than normal.
