TheBeerOrg (1374), Kentucky, USA Apr 12, 2008 Pours tawny with a mostly maintained wispy tan head. Aroma of bubble gum, banana, toffee, and ripe fruit. Tastes of fruity esters, notes of banana and bubble gum with light toffee and toasted malt. Medium bodied, elegant mouthfeel with lush carbonation. Pretty damn tasty.
azlondon (480), Greater London, England Jun 30, 2008 Appearance: Dark brown. Quite a lot of head. Cloudy.
Aroma: Wheaty, but not that bad. Bit of chocolate, actually.
Taste: Wheaty-ish. Maybe spicy. Not nice aftertaste.
Info: 500ml bottle, 11/9-2006, 91/500 BückDich (4525), Boise, Idaho, USA Jun 10, 2008 Bottle: Pours a dark amber color with a hazy look and nice head. The nose is bright with some fig and banana, nice clove esters and lots of yeast notes. Full bodied flavor and a malty tail. Lots of bread, rye, bubble gum and toasty dark malts. Yum. BBB63 (3767), La Porte, Indiana, USA Mar 4, 2008 Bottle and served in a weizen glass: A muddled amber brown hue with a fluffy head and spotty lace. The aroma has notes of caramel, walnut, yeast, red wheat, some banana and clove esters, and some medicinal vapours. The taste seemed watered down and lacks the punch of the weizen side of the house. Malty and fruity with a chalky finish. The mouth feel is thin and uninspired. A below average Dunkelweizen, disappointing. MrRain (298), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA Jan 31, 2008 500ml bottle poured into a weizen glass. WH-WD looks like somebody bottled the remains of the stomach flu and carbonated it. i’ll let you visualize that one yourself. The good news is that it smells nice. I can smell bananas, strawberries and a nice fresh scent. The body on dunkelweizens always surprises me because I expect something heavier. This is light and crisp and tasty though. It finishes crisp and clean with no aftertaste. The flavor is mild and fruity with a nice counter balance of malt. Yet another hit from Weltenburger. I’m very impressed with this brewery.
