2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottled 50cl. Courtesy of Quack-Duck. It pours a beautiful clear deep copper beer with a creamy persistent off white head. Earthy aroma of raisin, caramel, bread crust, barnyard and dog food pellets which is accentuated by the malt. Sweet malty taste. Medium bodied. A lot of raisins and caramel showing up. Low carbonation and bitterness. Nice lacework. Faintly astringent, especially on the swallow. Surprisingly dry finish which is reminiscent of raisin, caramel and a huge amount of bread crust. This beer really tastes artisanal. Thanks a lot Quack-Duck!

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottled (Beerangel, BB 02/2010).
Pale copper color, good off-white head, lace. Metal, ash, clover, straw, grass and caramel in the nose - when warms up: barnyard. Crispish carbonation. Ryeish-caramelly malty, vague grassy-flowery hops. Only some metal. Bitter-harsh aftertaste. Biscuity. Unorthodox German Vienna (closer to hoppy Märzen), but not the most balanced one. Finish is also a bit thin for 5.5% German brew.

bought 17oct. 2008 el corte ingles, palma, rated mar 31 2009. best before 3-jun-2009.
clear yellow, small thick white head.
hoppy, but also a bit earthy aroma.
flavor is a bit alcoholic, sweet and dark caramelly. reminds me of a grolsch i once tasted that was few months after best before date. ends sweet. i’ll have to rerate a fresh sample, as this bottleed one was not tasting good, i think it aged badly or have had too much heat at some point.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at Zum Schneider: Copper golden pour with a dense off-white head. Clean, bready, softly caramelized aroma with a lightly spicy Vienna malt note. Creamy body- clean and firm malt flavor- mildly spicy Vienna malts, substantial but light caramel and bready character with a touch of toasted biscuit. As it warms, even more biscuity, clean and mildly sweet malt subtleties come out. A very good Vienna. I could drink a lot of this.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled (from beerangel.de). Deep golden colour (almost coppery) with big off-white creamy/foamy head. Aroma is bready malts, some fruity and metallic notes as well as quite earthy and herbal notes. At first the metallicness was strong, but vanishes, as the beer gets to stand for itself for a while. Flavour is bready malts along with caramel malts, some slight wooden bitterness and also nuttyness and both some floral and fruity hops. Not really that viennaish for anything but the flavour, but then again, very hard to place in any category. As it warms up it gets some slight burnt wet wooden notes. Probably one of the most interesting beers I’ve had from Germany.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Had an old bottle I guess a while ago and gave it a 3/5. Recently on tap at Deep Ellum and this beer damn near blew me away. .4 liter mug. Pours a bright clear coppery light amber with a massive fluffy lasting white cloudy head. Aroma is nicely sweet tons of Vienna and munch toasty fresh malts bready, adn a touch of light floral herbal hallertauer hops. Beautifully smooth full doughy fresh malt flavor, bready pils behind a nice fresh vienna lightly burnt toast, slight toffee, nuts and light floral and zesty hop notes towards the slightly bitter finish. Damn smooth and easy to drink- went great with my breakfast. Great beer, although i cant say this tasted like any other vienna in the world. More like a mix between a dunkel and a helles I guess?

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottled, 500ml, from Real Supermarket, Bamberg. Amber with white head. Looked good, but the flavours were somewhat disappointing, there was a wet cardboard taste initially, leading to a flattish caramel malt taste. A touch on the sweet side with a little roasty coffee note in the finish. More challenging than it should have been, but ok in the end.
