3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Ernest (5610) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JAN 10, 2005
UPDATED: MAR 25, 2013 Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is dark yellow. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain, cookie), lightly to moderately hoppy (flowers, apricot), with a light note of honey. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. A touch on the sweet side, and the aroma is a bit docile, but I have to admit it’s quite delightful...if the nose were more assertive and the finish more snappy, this could be a 4+ brew. And maybe when it’s very fresh it is indeed at that level.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 JPDIPSO (4956) - Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 3, 2005
Amber color with a tall sable light tan head. Dry malt house aromas. Nothing exciting in the nose, even a touch of fresh barnyard throws things off. Things settle down as it warms and a light floral aroma comes out. Solid light sweet malt throughout the quaff. Again nothing exiting, but nothing that throws the flavor off like the aroma. Clean and silky on the tongue. A very easy one to throw back. I think I could sit on the porch and have this all afternoon and not get tired of it.

UPDATED: JUL 26, 2012 Bottle picked up at Beertopia Omaha, opened in Exira, Iowa. Clear, dark orange appearance with a big white head. Grainy, husky, light corn crib, light cobweb, hay aroma. Fuck this reminds me of my grandparent’s, farm five clicks away. Crisp grainy, fairly fruity, a bit dry, grainy flavor. Pretty easy to drink but there’s a bit of awkwardness between the grainy, straw elements and the fruit elements. Tried again in the bottle in Germany. A bit better this time around but nothing special.
