500 ml bottle. From Germany (beerangel.de).
Dark reddish brown colour with big light tan head. Roasted malty aroma with caramel, sugar, nuts, raisins, biscuit, oatmeal and hints of hops. Flavour is slightly more straight forward with roasted malt, burned sugar, alcohol, bitter hops and nuts. Excellent complex brew. I like it!

1/11 A 0.5 l bottle courtesy of Doggythedog and ogivlado, thanks for sharing! It poured reddish brown body with medium sized head. Roasted malt, sugar and biscuit aroma. Fine malty flavor, caramel, biscuit and burnt sugar with some herbal bitterness. Roasted malt occasionally ends to be pleasant. Medium bodied with longer sweetish, even slightly alcoholic finish. Fine beer, but not something extraordinary as a such classic should be. It’s easily forgettable, and also seems quite weak for a doppelbock.

Pours a deep brown with a nice head and plenty of lace. The aroma is apply with mild chocolate notes and some grassy and hay notes are a surprise but work well in the mix. The flavor is chocolate, cider, some burnt notes, plenty of bitterness, and some raisin and plum notes. The caramel sweetness is very well under control. The mouthful is bubbly but very full. This is exceptional.

Bottle. Thanks to TheJester. Very sweet brown sugar, heavy malt aromas. Sweet malt flavors with some chocolate bitterness. Mouthfeel is kind of sparkling, very good for the style.

Bottle from the beerangel store, shared with ogivlado and heavy
Medium sized off white head, thick and not going anywhere for some time. Dark red body, nice. Grainy, sweet, heavy malty nose, notes of dogfood, not bad, didn’t particularly enchant me though. Grainy taste, roasty maltiness that’s roasty in a way, so dry it’s bordering dogfood again, which isn’t all that much pleasant in my opinion. No hop, but that’s ok for the style I guess. Sorry, expected more and better, much better.

Beautiful dark amber color with a small off white head. Smell is of raisins, malt, light chocolate, and burnt sugar. Taste was really good with a big malt flavor and only a light bitter chocolate bite at the end that only last for a moment. Very enjoyable doppelbock.

Dark brown brew with a decent dark tan foam, spotty, sticky lacing. This stuff smells fairly foul - something reminds me of fish. Dark roasted malts, some chocolate, grass? Tons of toasted malts in the flavour with roasted as well, raisin, mid range spices works well, burnt sugar, nuts. Smooth medium full bodied brew, mild carbonation, finishes raisiny, brown sugar and weak spice. Good qualities but I really didn’t like this brew.

0.5l from the Kloster gift pack sixer. Poured into a dimpled mug and let to warm a bit. Pours very dark and the light brown head disappears quickly. It has a thick mouthfeel and the alcohol taste is prominent. There is some sweet malt flavor as it warms.
