Ungstrup (10419), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 1, 2004 The aroma is sweet of licorice, malt, and grain. The color is deep red and it has a beutiful light brown head. The flavor is very sweet malty with notes of licorice, and a very soft mouthfeel. It is a bit too sweet for my liking. omhper (9704), Stockholm, Sweden Jan 3, 2002 Nut brown. very malty, balanced bitterness. Great bock beer!
Papsoe (9242), Frederiksberg, Denmark Oct 10, 2005 (Bottle 50 cl) 6,5% ABV in my version. Light brown with a rich and frothy head that fades a bit too fast. Very full-bodied and malty with a sweet, lightly caramelish touch. Yet a dry bitterness in the finish making a balanced and harmonious Doppelbock. Good, solid stuff. 220801 Oakes (6529), Miami Beach, Canada Dec 10, 2002 Updated: Jan 7, 2004Dark mahogany, thin light brown head; malty, toffeeish nose; Smooth, rich malt palate - earth, wood, demerara sugar, toffee, almost smokey. All of this plays second fiddle to the pure malt flavours one normally would head north to Franconia for, but apparently can find in the monastic brews of Bavaria as Weltenburg and Andechs have proven, especially in their wonderful doppelbocks. sk8viking (5995), Copenhagen, Denmark Jun 16, 2005 Bottle. Dark brown colour with a big baige head. Sweet metallic roasted malty aroma and a sweet chocolate malty taste. Medium to full body and a sweet finish. A bit to sweet.
