Bottled: Very deep brown in color with ruby tints, topped by a generous and well retained creamy tan head. Very malty aroma, with a hint of sweetness. Perfectly roasty notes, peat, brown sugar and chocolate. The mouth feel is perfectly creamy and has an amazing texture, a perfect palate. Amazing flavor of roasted malt, dark & subtle sweetness, chewy nuttiness, rich quality chocolate, hearty bready notes, and a perfectly balancing, roasted, smooth coffeeish dryness in the finish. This is a perfectly crafted beer which is perfectly balanced. If I were to rate strictly by style this would be a five!

Aug 20, 2008 If you are looking for something very malty this is your beer, it is also very full boided and has great balance along with a nice mouthfeel. The caramelly sweetness in this works very well, the metallic notes play second fiddle and get ignored by me mostly. A highly recommended beer in my books.

Aug 20, 2008 Bottle. Dark brown. Small off white head that didn’t last. Left a little lacing. Smells very malty - cereal/weetbix dominates with some toffee. Tastes very malty as well - toffee, molassas, cereal, with a toasty slightly bitter finish. Its real viscous and syrupy feeling. A tasty beer but perhaps slightly sweet and syrupy for me.

Pours deep brown with beige head.
Aroma is sweet caramel and grains.
Taste is lightly roasted with caramel, light coffee and some dark fruits (cherry/prunes).
Well balanced, highly drinkable and the highlight of my tastings at the Berlin beertfets 2008.
