The appearance is dark red with a small head. The flavor is like the aroma with a better that expected taste. The palate is thin. Overall a decent drinking beer but not a great all around beer. Aroma is rich sweet medium malt-caramel/molasses, medium/dark fruit-cherry/plum/dates, hint of earthy hops. Poured out a clear medium brown color, with a thin tan head. Left a decent lacing down the sides of the glass. Aromas are of roasted hazelnuts, dark roast malt, pumpernickel bread. Flavors are of pumpernickel bread, roasted malts, earthy hops. Thin mouthfeel and body.
