Shared from tall German brown bottle into a tulip. It poured a beautiful golden/light-amber color with moderate white head and nice lace. Extremely complex aromas of freshly-cut husky grains, characteristically vanilla/marshmallow pils essence, flowery and peppery noble German hops, faint banana, honey. 100% true-to-style pilsner flavors, grainy, bittersweet, mildy fruity and spicy, with an excellence and refinement I find difficult to explain. Elegantly delicious. Light-medium body, faint mineral water essence, crusty French bread mouthfeel, crisp and clean finish. Highly recommended.

This is very polished. Dark yellow. Tasty. Banana, grain. Marshmellow. Thin head. This tastes like history. Thanks Seymour.

Argonian (277) - Athens, GREECE - OCT 20, 2012
On tap. Yellow-golden body, with a rich white head that slowly diminishes, leaving a fair lace. Nice grassy, floral aroma at the start, but as the beer gets warmer, notes of skunk begin to appear. Light bitter taste, with notes of grass, but very watery. Very watery texture, soft to medium carbonation, thin body. For me, not the best example of a german pils, had much better ones.

Pours yellow with a thin white head. Notes of pils malt, light herbs, lager yeast, bready, lightly metallic. Thin bodied with lively carbonation. quite nice.

This is a classic and good example of a pils. Very clean and with a refreshing tart bitterness in the end.

The beer pours a gorgeous slightly hazy pale yellow with a big, tight, fluffy white head that leaves lots of lacing on the glass.

The aroma is herbal, with a fairly high level of honey sweetness, some hay, and a little bit of breakfast cereal. Itís not as hop forward smelling a beer as I would want from a German Pils, particularly one from Weltenburger... but thatís not to say that there isnít some juicy citrus and plenty of herbal hop expression, these aromas simply donít take center stage & are replaced by some nice things, and other.... less nice things.

The flavor is disappointing, a touch to sweet, and sort of metallic at first. Mid palate the hops pick up, lots of herbal character, plenty of bitterness, and a light fruitiness and citrus rind that plays nicely with the crisp and lightly sweet malt expression. As the glass progresses the bad bits at the front become less and less prominent and the beer becomes more and more enjoyable. The finish is dry.

I might have set the bar a little high here, but the last few bottles Iíve had from the same brewery, bought from the same beer shop, in the same cooler have been among my favorites of the last month or so. German Pils is a style I really love, so I got a little excited to try it. Itís perfectly good beer, enjoyable on all accounts... but I so wanted to love it so much I went out and bought a case... thatís not happening.

FROTHINGSLOSH (4909) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 8, 2012
Sampled from an 11.2 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy yellow-golden color with a large creamy yellow-white head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was sweet, perfumey and a bit floral. The flavor was bitter, dryish and a touch bready with moderate perfume, floral hops and lemon. Medium length dry lemon and perfume finish. Medium body. Eh.

330 ml bottle in Regensburg, German. Pours a normal Pils yellow with a fine whit head. Aroma is a bit sweet for style but fits otherwise. Taste is like a normal Pils but in the Southern German style while is sweeter than the nNorth German Types. Palate ends more mellow that said type as well.
