Bread, grassy hop aromas. Sublte malt flavor with a sharp bitterness but still satisfying. Very crisp finish with lingering sour bitterness.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Copped this on a recent beer run in Dirty Jers.
Pours and extremely pale, almost clear golden yellow color with a three finger soapy, pillowy white head that has good retention, only slowly fading into a lasting cap. Sporadic chunks of lacing left behind.
Very earthy aroma with lots of soily floral hops, grass, straw and faint light fruit. The nose is dominated by the grassy, dirty notes but there is some faint apple and pear as well as some substantial pilsner malt.
Thin bodied with a flavor profile that is very similar to the aroma. Slghtly watered down with a decent pilsner malt backbone that adds a bit to the mouthfeel. Slightly dry and very earthy with hints of dirt and soil which are countered by subtle notes of crisp light fruit and a decent hop bite. Subtle bitterness with hints of grass, straw and apple. This beer was a bit better than I expected based on appearance and aroma but it was still a bit pedestrian. Decent but probably not something that I would seek out again.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Sampled from an 11.2 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy yellow-golden color with a large creamy yellow-white head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was sweet, perfumey and a bit floral. The flavor was bitter, dryish and a touch bready with moderate perfume, floral hops and lemon. Medium length dry lemon and perfume finish. Medium body. Eh.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Interesting appearance: PGC with very faint greenish tinge. A large erectile lasting fine bubbled creamy white head tha generates some blobbly ring lace. Faint mild hops and albumen aroma. Very faint hint of sweet floral nectar as it warms. Soft smooth medium fullness body. Decent sharp bitter hoppy start but it's downhill from there. A short characterless light sweet middle and finish. Aftertaste is a tad harsh bitter and chemical tasting. Somewhat disappointing.

Nice amount of hop bite, smooth and clean, with a slight metallic finish. Easy to drink, but once it got a little warm, quickly turned sour. Drink this one cold.

UPDATED: JUL 3, 2005 20 Aug 2004 Fruit floral hop aroma. Clear light yellow orange colour, decent head, reasonable suds lacing. Some fruit flavour but needs more malt. Medium mouthfeel and there is not enough malt or sweetness/fruit to balance, but a nice lingering finish.

(16.9 oz bottle, $2.65) Not being part of some massive global conglomerate, I expected better with this beer; I like the balance of this beer, but the malt tastes somewhat grainy and sweet, and the flavor just seems kind of light in general; Pretty mild hops quietly sits in the background, not doing much; A little heavier on the palate than some other German pilseners; Medium yellow in color and a bit hazy; Just not much going on in the nose, a bit of corn aroma, perhaps smelling faintly of tea, but I’m not getting any hops; Foamy, white head is of average size on the pour, but takes its time dying down to a thin layer, and then exhibits excellent head retention; Not too much lacing however, and it’s very sporadic

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
I find the lagers of Weltenburg to be amongst the finest in the world, yet this really didn’t satisfy me at all. Tasted from the bottle and poured into a Weltenburger chalice. Clear pale yellowish gold body, highly charged in carbonation and topped off with a loose, fluffy white crown that lasted and left some lace (appearance was spot on the money). Dry, bitter and raspy lawn clippings, sour-grass, and bay leaves in the harsh aroma along with underlying notes of pine nuts, chaff and fresh squeezed lemons. Hop dominated in the mouth also and were rather harsh on the tongue. Grassy, leafy and bitter; slightly metallic, tangy and acrid down the back of the mouth. Extra light in body and slightly chemically soapy in mouthfeel, this was honestly a hard one to finish. Dry for the length with only an inkling of powdery grain that wasn’t enough to save it. Disappointing, as I love this brewer. I just hope it was a bad sample. (50cL, 23/03/06, Int’l Beer Shop, W. Leederville)

Seit 1050. Grassy malty semi sweet hops. Light head, slightly skunky. Decent flavor nothing too special as far as german beers go but the recipe has history so you gotta try it once.
