Clear light orange. Fine, voluptuous white foam, which settles into a light ring. Light aroma, evoking a lightly grainy caramel and fruit character, with an herbal, lightly floral aromatic hop scent. Malt accented, with caramel and toffee malt flavors, soft apple and a touch of honey covered fruit.

Red/brown with a small white head. Aromas are sweet malty and doughy with hints of fruit. Flavours are sweet and malty with a roast character, bready dough and some smokiness coming through. Has rich winter fruit, quite Xmassy. Quite light on the finish but all up to that point is very good.

dortmunder (961) - Herdecke, GERMANY - MAR 11, 2005
Bottled. Clear copper colour. Frothy, lacey, medium-sized head. Cookie malt aroma with what could be hints of cinnamon. Honeyish, slightly sweet taste with a cookie malt background. I really like the honeyish notes. I find it amazing how they put typical winter flavours into a beer, while staying with the reinheitsgebot. This is what German winterbeers should all be like. Thanks to joss for this late winter-season treat. Though this style fits the current weather better than the already avaiable maibocks.

Hazy shining peachy gold. Nose yeasty, some lemon and spice. Smells like a weizenbock with mint, interestingly enough. Flavor is fruity with plenty of butterscotch and yeast, some earthiness. Very creamy.
