3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Clouded orangey body, good head formation. Strong malty, dark fruits, prune aroma. Smooth caramel palate, some burnt fruitcake flavor, toasted sweet raisiny finish. Couldn’t decide on this one, but it does mellow very well in the aftertaste.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A dark amber beer with a huge light brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of caramel, hops, and grain. The flavor is strong and sweet with notes of caramel, roasted malt, and hints of bitter chocolate, that starts the dry bitter end. A nice beer.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Rich golden to light amber color. Dark cream colored head with thick lace at each quaff. Lots of malt in the nose somewhat plain. Rich sweet malt with a nice floral to spicy noble hop recovery. malt linger to awesome. Not quite as smooth as the others I have had from this Monastery, but still a substantial brew.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Gum-drop and honey nose with some hay mixed in, clrea crisp amber, low scumy head. CAramelly and grainy body with a dry dirty finish. Odd blend. Rough and raw around the edges. Overall to terrible successful.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft. Copper color with decent medium sized head. Roasted malt aroma with a malted milk ball taste. The finish is where the real bitterness kicks in. It's strange, but somehow the bittness passed the maltiness and the two never really meet to make something too consistant. Went great with my pastrami sandwich with hot mustard.

Beautiful clear dark golden color. Fine tasting marzen, on the lighter side of the style. Karl Strauss in San Diego made a similar beer, though it's an ale, for this year's Christmas Ale(2003). Nice sweet malty flavor with an interesting buttery or butterscotch flavor that I liked.
