4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 stevoj (971) - Ramstein-Miesenbach, GERMANY - JUL 10, 2012
Poured from a 500ml bottle into lager glass. Deep amber color, minimal head, which dissipated quickly (Note: glass was just rinsed out and wet from previous beer). Typical spiciness for a German Christmas beer. Lower alcohol content, but a smooth taste. Not so spicy to dissuade casual drinkers, but a nice tart aftertaste. No lacing on glass. I’d drink this year round if it was available...
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 EithCubes (4233) - New Jersey, USA - JUN 5, 2012
200th rating for this beer. Bottle by 29.08.2012. Cracker and caramel nose, sticky malt with a little toffee and faint roast. Dark orange-brown body with a creamy beige head. Lightly bittersweet, a nice rounded malt flavor and quite crisp and prickling with a crackery-bready note in with the juicy hops and citrus in the aftertaste. Medium body, really nice Vienna.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 dmac (3219) - Toms River, New Jersey, USA - APR 12, 2012
50 ml bottle from Spirits The Spot TR. Poured a burnt orange body with an average sized fizzy looking off white head. Aroma was very off putting, just loads of sticky sweetness, green grapes, raisins, honey, dough. Flavor was the exact same, cloying sweetness that turned my stomach. Medium body that fizzes up once it passes your lips and stingy carbonation. I knew I wasn’t going to like this one and I was 100% right, Drain pour.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 ALLOVATE (2142) - Butler, AUSTRALIA - FEB 28, 2012
Cool, but not cold and into a snifter. Settles from the pour with an inch thick, rocky off white crown that is fluffy, resilient and adherent to the glass to leave messy lace. The body a shimmering, fiery copper with one single stream of bubbles eddying towards the surface from the centre of the glasses base. Strong and rich aroma of roasted nutty malt, peat, praline, sultanas and raisins, rust and sodden earth. The palate is filled with the flavours of the aroma. It has subtle sweetness to the front, woody, nutty malts dominate with a dusty, earthy back that has just a little tannic rust flavours to keep it interesting. Finish is dry, very earthy and nutty. Light bodied, well rounded and soft in the mouth with the pillowy head adding in to the mouthfeel. It sticks around long after each sip. This one makes for excellent drinking, it has all the substance of beers of old. Very rustic, rough but altogether wonderfully crafted Vienna. Another gem from Weltenburg. (50cL, 5.4% ABV, BB 03/08/12, Cellarbrations Carlisle)
3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 newbrewguy (145) - Mechanicsville, Maryland, USA - FEB 10, 2012
Pour a hazy amber color with a small white head, which dissipated quickly. Fruit malty aroma, with traces of apricot and raisins. Tastes , carmely, fruity and almost like a stale malt flavor. Makes me think it’s a bit oxidized.
