500 ml bottle. Pours clear orange-brown with a medium sized white head. Spicy-roasty caramel aroma. Spicy taste fading into a roasty, slightly bitter palate.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A: Dark, orangy amber, clear, large thick tanned head which didn’t hang around long, moderate lacing. S: Malt, charcoal, reminiscent of a dunkel. T: Started with hints of slightly sweet malty charcoal which was balanced out by some fuggles hop like earthy hoppy bitterness M: Slightly thick texture, low to moderate carbonation, smooth. O: Combined aspects of an English bitter, Munich dunkel and a Franconian kellerbier. Pretty solid.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Beautiful clear dark golden color. Fine tasting marzen, on the lighter side of the style. Karl Strauss in San Diego made a similar beer, though it's an ale, for this year's Christmas Ale(2003). Nice sweet malty flavor with an interesting buttery or butterscotch flavor that I liked.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured a wonderful amber color (crystal clear) with a hugh frothy beige head that left nice lacing around the glass. Aroma was malty and yeasty (bread like) with a hint of hops. A good light-medium bodied drinking beer with lots of carbonation. Flavor was sweet malts with a bready undertone. Just a slight hop bite in the finish.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
This pours light yellow or orange with a little straw aroma. This is watery and a typical german winter beer. There is a bit of bitterness on the end.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tarnished gold in color, with a small but stout head. Aromas of orange, lime and grapefruit with deeper notes of malt, grass, yeast, herbs, ginger, cloves, licorice and dark chocolate. Flavors are very balanced, but distinguished be dark and citrus fruits, spice, malt, hops and yeast, with low bitterness. Fairly carbonated but big mouthfeel, inviting you to swish it around before swallowing. A good all-around lager.

2.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
This beer is quite malty. It seems to have enough hops, at first, but they don’t really stay with you as you drink it. It seems like the hops could be more fresh or have more staying power or something. The beer is also a bit thinner than I’d like it to be. It’s a drinkable enough beer, but nothing extraordinary.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20

3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pour a hazy amber color with a small white head, which dissipated quickly. Fruit malty aroma, with traces of apricot and raisins. Tastes , carmely, fruity and almost like a stale malt flavor. Makes me think it’s a bit oxidized.
