Fin (8332) - Merton, Oxfordshire, England, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - DEC 30, 2008
Bottle, purchased from the Dodgy Deli’ Cowley Road, Oxford 30-12-08 and consumed same evening. Pours reddy amber in colour with a good white foamy head. Maltiness comes through first along with some caramel and the expected clean, pure, smooth taste that you expect of a solid well respected German brewery like this. What I never expected was the occasional worrying foray into Top Deck shandy territory which this surprisngly reminded me of on the odd occasion, it always managed to pull itself back from the precipice but it did worry me at times and I had to do a double take and read and re-read the bottle to make sure that I hadn’t gone back in time to an era of tank tops, Smiths salt and shake crisps and Marathon bars. That one rather serious criticism aside, I actually enjoyed this beer and whilst I would go for the others in the Weltenburg rosta first I wouldn’t pass this by. A6 A4 F6 P3 OV12

DruncanVeasey (7634) - NUNEATON, CONF N, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - DEC 16, 2008
UPDATED: DEC 17, 2008 Bottle from Arden Wines, 5.4%. Bronze pour spiralling with effervescence. Head plump and rocky, mouth bulbous with silk and biscuit, glass woolly with froth. Disarming fresh gust of Munchen hay, honey, herb and biscuit. Sniff of sultana. FRESH freshbread malt, nibble of pinecone, honey slickness, appetising noble bite, just-baked biscuit linger. So very clean and elegantly Germanic. Oh yes. More than a bit tasty.

Bottle. Lovely amber color. Rich, malty aroma that is spicy as well. Fruity flavor with caramel, cherry and other fruits, biscuits and bread. Fabulously complex malts. Very nice stuff.

marcus (7564) - Sacramento, California, USA - MAY 23, 2007
This reddish amber beer poured with a medium off-white head that dissipated fairly quickly. There is a pleasant caramel malt flavor with a short bitter hop finish snd a longer lasting fruit and malt aftertaste. The mouthfeel is lively and carbonated. Very refreshing.

laiti (7264) - Helsinki, FINLAND - NOV 13, 2012
50 cl bottle (5,4%) @ home, BBE 19.06.2013
Aroma has toffee, roasted notes, nuts and hints of metal. Flavour starts with grassy hops and finishes with nuts, some toffee and caramel. Also some distant metallic notes on some sips, which seems to be the curse of this beer style. A solid vienna.
