2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: JAN 26, 2008 Bottle (BB Feb 09). Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is light amber. Aroma is moderately malty (toasted bread, malt syrup, cookie, husks), lightly hoppy (flowers), with a note of peach. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. A tired, rough, uninspiring example. The brewers seem to just be phoning this in.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
50 cl bottle (5,4%) @ home, BBE 19.06.2013
Aroma has toffee, roasted notes, nuts and hints of metal. Flavour starts with grassy hops and finishes with nuts, some toffee and caramel. Also some distant metallic notes on some sips, which seems to be the curse of this beer style. A solid vienna.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Biggish offwhite head. Amber body with light carbonation. Light earthy caramel aroma with faint papery notes and some hops at the far back. Dry earthy caramel taste. Clean, sharpish mouthfeel. Bitter earthy caramel aftertaste with grassy hop notes and a touch of wood. Good, but the taste is very subdued. If there were more of it this could be really great; as it is it’s OK. (0.5l bottle at Cardinal.)

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Grassy bitterhop notes with a bisquit background.
Orange amber with a lowish creamy head.
Nice broad hop flavors on top of a firm malt body. Hops are fresh and malt is fruity, I do not think this is a beer which ages or travels well. It is nice finally
to taste a well-done german fall/winter seasonal.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tried this first at a Bon Vivant tasting, and brought home a 0.5L bottle to enjoy further. This pours with a uniquely amber color for a German brau, dog (ha!), looking American ... kinda like a European tourist wearing white sneakers. Anyway, the aroma ends the illusion, a full-force blast of cookie-maltiness with a sharp sweet tinge at the end. That Teutonicness carries into the flavor, bready, doughy, and sweet ... toffee, butter, and maybe a little green raisin. Pretty sweet for a "Vienna", but this is an enjoyable quaff nonetheless.
