Pours a orange/amber with a small bubbled white head. Caramel malt aroma, lightly fruity. Taste is very smooth and clean, moderate malt sweetness up front, caramel tastes, lightly toasty, with a subtle floral/spiced hop finish.

Tarnished gold in color, with a small but stout head. Aromas of orange, lime and grapefruit with deeper notes of malt, grass, yeast, herbs, ginger, cloves, licorice and dark chocolate. Flavors are very balanced, but distinguished be dark and citrus fruits, spice, malt, hops and yeast, with low bitterness. Fairly carbonated but big mouthfeel, inviting you to swish it around before swallowing. A good all-around lager.

Hazy copper with white somewhat sustained head and nice lacing. Sweet grain aroma. Chewy yeast leads to a full mouthfeel. Sweet malt and spice on the late palate.

Mild aroma has sweet malt, dark fruits. Clear deep amber/copper, 2 finger frothy white head. Sweet, malty flavor, medium body, malty finish, bit sherry, slightly fizzy carbonation. Nice for winter, good flavors, easy to drink.

Two fingers of head on a cloudy copper colored body. The aroma is malty, barnyard, hay and caramel. It borders musty, but it’s still nice. The flavor has a malt sweetness, mild bitterness and a curious spice note at the end. Smooth texture with low carbonation and heavier body. An enjoyable beer. The taste is a bit different with the spice, but it’s a good addition.

On tap at Gourmet Haus Staudt in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is malts, spiced breads. Taste is caramel malts, some tartness, vanilla, dried fruit. One of the better German beers I’ve had.

Bottle. Amber bodied with a small whitish head. Nose is malty and sweet with caramel notes, dried fruits, light nuttiness and a bit of grass. Taste is just as malty and sweet with a nice caramel flavor lingering throughout. Mild grassiness and more dried fruit notes. Hint of nuttiness comes through here as well. Almost has a flavor like a beer mixed with a trail mix. Body is medium with lots of carbonation feel. Finish is more malts and caramel, light grass and fruit. Nothing too original or outstanding but very drinkable quenching.
