A nice strong, black, oatmeal stout. What more can you say?

UPDATED: JUN 23, 2011 Cask at the Willow Walk (JDW), London, England. 5.4%.
Dark reddish brown colour with tiny off-white head. Mild dry hops, mild roasted malt and liquorice in aroma. Dry hops, liquorice, roasted malt and some mild grainy (oaty?) sweetness. Dry liquorice hoppiness stays in aftertaste. Quite balanced yet thinnish.

Cask at the Willow Walk (JDW), Victoria. Deep reddish chestnut with a tight tan head; oatmeal aroma; rich and oaty flavour, but also thick and oily, with sharp, rasping, resinous hops; the finish is full and dry with a little residual sweetness at the end. Not what I was expecting from an Oat Stout, but really rather good.

Leighton (6931) - London, ENGLAND - JUN 15, 2011
Cask at the Crosse Keys, JDW. Pours cloudy brown with a thick, foamy, off-white head. Aroma is earthy and roasty. Flavor is mildly sweet, with notes of brownie, grass, moss, burnt bread, raisins. Medium bodied, muddy and viscous, with fine carbonation. Dry, semi-sweet finish, muddy flavors, light roast cocoa, some burnt toast, hints of brown sugar. A little odd but it works pretty well.

JDW, Rochester. Fruity dark beer with a robust but not overbearing bitterness. Decent stuff.
