From tap, pours a dark orange brown with a very thick cream head. The smell is cocoa, molasses, roasted malt. The taste is big dark fruit and chocolate with a touch of dryness on the end. The body is light/medium with fine, crisp carbonation. Pretty damn nice stuff.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours out in a deep hazy black colour with steady low head and medium body. Aroma of malt and spices. Taste of malt, barley, grains, bread and woods. Spicy but mild finish. Nice one.

on tap at the pub.
Malziger Antrunk, mild-weich mit leichter Karamell-Note. Etwas wässrig. Ganz leicht lakritzig. Feinherb im Nachgeschmack mit mild-weicher Röstmalzigkeit. Cremiger Schaum.
--> 12/13/11/12

(from notes) Bunch of Wenkers today. Just a meh black beer. No real character to it other than a little roast with a faint hint of hops. Not impressed.

Tap at Wenkers, Dortmund, 28/04/13. Murky mahogony brown with a decent sized beige head. Nose is dark malts, dark fruit, ripe orange, sugars, faint sour hints, touch of liqourice. Taste is a little on the bland side in comparison to the more vibrant nose, dark toffee, brown sugars, malt, nutty tones. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Ok drinkable stuff but a little bland.

Trinkbar! Test vom 11.10.2008, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 13,8,9,10,-,10 - 9,84

On tap at Wenkers am Markt, Dortmund. Poured dark brown in colour with off-white head. Dark fruits and roasted malts in aroma. Malty and roasted flavour with some bitter notes too.

on draft @ Wenkers in Dortmund, next to the Karstadt Sports...consumed, in many during the Dortmund crushing of Bayer 3-0. The pommes flowed later on. Pour was a nice dark measure, slightly cola, with a cloudy haze. Nose was dark fruits, chocolate, and roasted malts, and a bit of soap. Taste was fairly decent and I did enjoy it. Roasted malts, banana, nuts, clove, and burnt aspects settled nicely. Some herbal quality in the afterbite along with a rounded bread note. One of those beers I discovered by accident and enjoyed as I was beginning to believe I would walk away from Dortmund with nothing but the usual German markt pils.
