Tap @ brewpub. Pours an auburn brown with a rocky, off-white head that dissipates rather quickly. Taste is some roast, bread, surprisingly dry and herbal. Very nice.

0.1 l on tap at ’Wenkers’. Clear, dark brownish amber with a medium large, dense, slowly diminishing, tan head. Sweetish-malty, minimally fruity aroma of caramel, nuts and hints of raisins. Sweetish-malty, minimally fruity taste of caramel, nuts and hints of raisins, followed by a short, slightly bitter, minimally roasty finish. Thin to medium body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, flat. Solid Dunkel.

Tap (Wenkers, Dortmund)
Deep red, maybe some haze, hard to tell. Shame, there’s some sourness in the aroma, quite a bit lactic and tons of strawberry jam. Full palate, smooth, sweet, you can feel its unfiltered. Plenty of sweet bready malts, not so much roast or burntness. More a dunkel than a schwarz. Hints of the offness in the taste too. But it’s good, such a shame about the state, I’d love this fresh I’m sure.

On draft. Dark brown with one finger head. Malty aroma. Slightly roasted taste and bitter. Pretty good.

Fuer ein Schwarzes recht sueffig, dabei jedoch mit einer guten Prise Bitterkeit und Roestmalzen versehen. Eigentlich nicht schlecht, aber nicht das, was meine Sympathien trifft.

From tap, pours a dark orange brown with a very thick cream head. The smell is cocoa, molasses, roasted malt. The taste is big dark fruit and chocolate with a touch of dryness on the end. The body is light/medium with fine, crisp carbonation. Pretty damn nice stuff.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours out in a deep hazy black colour with steady low head and medium body. Aroma of malt and spices. Taste of malt, barley, grains, bread and woods. Spicy but mild finish. Nice one.

on tap at the pub.
Malziger Antrunk, mild-weich mit leichter Karamell-Note. Etwas wässrig. Ganz leicht lakritzig. Feinherb im Nachgeschmack mit mild-weicher Röstmalzigkeit. Cremiger Schaum. Nachgeschmack lang anhaltend, lecker cremig!
Leckeres Bier, aber für ein Schwarzbier etwas wenig Röstmalz. --> 12/13/11/12

(from notes) Bunch of Wenkers today. Just a meh black beer. No real character to it other than a little roast with a faint hint of hops. Not impressed.

Tap at Wenkers, Dortmund, 28/04/13. Murky mahogony brown with a decent sized beige head. Nose is dark malts, dark fruit, ripe orange, sugars, faint sour hints, touch of liqourice. Taste is a little on the bland side in comparison to the more vibrant nose, dark toffee, brown sugars, malt, nutty tones. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Ok drinkable stuff but a little bland.
